After years of silence, one of gaming’s most beloved adventure series is coming back. Space Quest is returning with an all-new original game, and longtime fans have plenty to celebrate.
MMMera, Inc. has announced that it has secured a federal trademark registration for Space Quest, clearing the way for a brand-new entry in the classic sci-fi comedy series. The first teaser for the new game premiered on October 11 at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, giving fans their first look at what’s next for hapless space janitor Roger Wilco.
The new game is being developed by Guillotine Games and will feature voice work from Josh Mandel, a veteran of the classic Sierra adventure era. While full details are still under wraps, the team is promising an original adventure that honors the humor and spirit of the original games.
Space Quest began in the 1980s as part of Sierra’s legendary adventure lineup and became famous for its sci-fi parody, puzzles, and many, many ways for Roger Wilco to meet an unfortunate end. A new entry has been a dream for adventure fans for decades.
The game is now available to wishlist on Steam. We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.
