PlayStation Studios has a lot cooking — but not everything on those viral “every game in development” lists is actually confirmed. Some of it is real. Some of it is a leak from years ago that never got confirmed. Some of it is contradicted by what our sourced outlets actually reported.
So we checked the whole list against only the weekend outlets for the Proven Gamer daily report: GamesPress, IGN, GameSpot, GamesRadar+, Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, Game Informer, and VG247. If a claim does not appear in those outlets, we say so. If those outlets contradict it, we say that too. No PlayStation Blog, no Reddit, no X posts, no YouTube rumors.
Here is the full breakdown, studio by studio — what is confirmed, what is reported rumor, and what has no coverage at all in those sources.
Naughty Dog
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet — CONFIRMED
Status: Confirmed, PS5. Announced at The Game Awards 2024, in development since 2020, and the first new Naughty Dog franchise since The Last of Us in 2013. It stars bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun (Tati Gabrielle), stranded on Sempiria — a planet cut off from communication for 600 years, where no visitor has returned in that time. The cast includes Kumail Nanjiani as Colin Graves, plus Tony Dalton, Troy Baker, and Ashley Scott. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are scoring it. GameSpot
Neil Druckmann is directing alongside Matthew Gallant and Kurt Margenau, with co-writer Clair Carré. Druckmann has described it as a game about faith and religion, set about 2,000 years in the future in a universe that diverged from ours in the 1980s, with 2,000 years of history built for Sempiria’s religion. GameSpot
Release date: No official date. Reports point to 2027 at the soonest — Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported “2027 at the soonest” and later that the team is “aiming to release Intergalactic in mid-2027.” GameSpot GameSpot Druckmann has said Naughty Dog will “fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” in 2027. Game Informer
Correction: The viral list claims “deep customization and player freedom inspired by Elden Ring.” No allowed source says that. The closest allowed-source wording is Eurogamer reporting Druckmann describing “RPG elements and ‘wide linear layouts'” plus realistic action and emotional storytelling. Eurogamer Druckmann has also said the game is “still evolving and changing as we’re making it.” GamesRadar+
Uncharted 5 — NO COVERAGE IN THESE OUTLETS
Status: No coverage in the allowed sources. No article in GamesPress, IGN, GameSpot, GamesRadar+, Eurogamer, Rock Paper Shotgun, Game Informer, or VG247 confirms a new Uncharted 5 in development since 2022, or Shaun Escayg leading it. The only related hits are older: GamesRadar+ (2021) confirming Escayg returned to Naughty Dog but saying “it’s not known what project he’s returned to work on,” and Eurogamer quoting Druckmann saying Naughty Dog is “moving on” from Uncharted while leaving open that another studio could pick it up. GamesRadar+ Eurogamer
Bottom line: as far as these outlets are concerned, Uncharted 5 is unverified.
The Last of Us Part III + “Another The Last of Us Project” — CONFIRMED AS TWO PROJECTS TOTAL, NEITHER CONFIRMED AS PART III
Status: Two early-stage The Last of Us projects confirmed. Part III itself is NOT confirmed.
On Outbreak Day in September 2026, Druckmann confirmed two new The Last of Us projects in “very early stages” / “early stages of development.” “Both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond Part 1 and Part 2… We wouldn’t return to it unless we had something meaningful to say.” GameSpot Game Informer
GameSpot explicitly notes: “It’s not clear whether either of the games will be The Last of Us Part 3.” Separately, Druckmann has said he has a concept for “one more chapter” — “I don’t have a story, but I do have a concept” — but also warned fans in March 2025: “don’t bet on there being more of The Last of Us. This could be it.” Game Informer GameSpot
Correction: Listing “Part III” as one confirmed item plus “Another Project” as a second confirmed item double-counts. The allowed sources confirm two projects total, and neither is confirmed to be Part III. No story directions, characters, settings, or plot options for Part III appear in these outlets.
Santa Monica Studio
God of War: Laufey — CONFIRMED — February 16, 2027
Status: Confirmed, PS5, February 16, 2027. Revealed at Sony’s State of Play in June 2026 with about 20 minutes of gameplay. The release date was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. A physical disc is confirmed. GameSpot GameSpot

This is the first God of War game not starring Kratos. The lead is Faye (Laufey) alone, played by Deborah Ann Woll. Her companions are Phranque, a “curious cosmic cube” voiced by Jack Quaid, and Rue, an “enchanted ribbon guardian” voiced by Perlina Lau. GameSpot
The setting is the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods. Faye’s story begins almost immediately after Kratos and Atreus laid her to rest in God of War (2018) and runs concurrently with the 2018 game — she is trying to reach her husband across metaphysical distance. Combat builds on modern God of War combat with Greek-era DNA; Faye is more mobile than Kratos, mixing ground and air combat, wielding a sword plus magic. Director Ariel Lawrence leads it, Cory Barlog is creative director, and Bear McCreary returns as composer. GameSpot GameSpot
Game Informer adds that antagonists include Sekhmet, an Egyptian goddess and the God of War of her pantheon, and that combat is one-handed swordplay plus magic in the free hand, with air juggles. Game Informer
Corrections: The viral list calls this a “prequel [that] follows Faye and Tyr through Mayan and East Asian mythologies.” The allowed sources contradict all three parts: it runs concurrently with God of War (2018), not before it; no allowed source mentions Tyr in connection with Laufey — companions are Phranque and Rue only; and no allowed source says Mayan or East Asian mythologies. The only non-Norse mythology element in Laufey coverage is one antagonist, the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet.
God of War 6 — ANNOUNCED, BUT UNTITLED — NO “6” IN THESE OUTLETS
Status: Announced untitled Kratos-led game. No title, date, or platform in allowed sources. At San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Cory Barlog announced a new Kratos-led game following Laufey. “Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next… there’s always going to be Kratos games.” GameSpot
Correction: “God of War 6” is not a title used in these outlets — they call it only “the next God of War game” / “a new Kratos-led game.” The “direct connections to Laufey” part is supported: it “will pick up where Laufey leaves off.”
God of War Trilogy Remake — CONFIRMED, VERY EARLY
Status: Confirmed, very early in development. Announced at State of Play on February 12, 2026. A remake of the original Greek trilogy (God of War, God of War II, God of War III). Original Kratos voice actor T.C. Carson returns to voice Kratos for the first time since Ascension (2013). Sony Santa Monica is developing. No footage was shown and no release date was given — “will be a minute” before another update. GameSpot GameSpot
Correction: “Completely revamped combat system” is NOT confirmed. The only allowed-source combat claim is second-hand and vague — Christopher Judge, who says he has “zero involvement” with the remake, relayed that the team is “putting all the new technology in it [and] adding more stuff,” including “a fighting system.” GameSpot
God of War: Sons of Sparta II — NO COVERAGE IN THESE OUTLETS
Status: No coverage for a sequel. The first game is confirmed: God of War: Sons of Sparta shadow-dropped February 12, 2026 — a 2D action-platformer / metroidvania, the first 2D entry in the series, developed by Mega Cat Studios with a story by Santa Monica Studio, following young Kratos and Deimos training in the Agoge. T.C. Carson narrates as adult Kratos. PS5, $30 Standard / Digital Deluxe, digital-only. GameSpot
No sequel, no “II” title, and no “depends on reception” condition appears in the allowed sources.
Bend Studio
Unannounced Project — NEW UNNAMED PROJECT AFTER LIVE-SERVICE CANCELLATION
Status: A new project exists, but its genre, title, and date are unconfirmed. The live-service version was CANCELLED — it is not a current live-service project in these outlets.
Game Informer (2022) reported Bend was “currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer and builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world” — not Days Gone 2, not Syphon Filter. Game Informer
In January 2025, VG247 (citing Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier) and Rock Paper Shotgun reported Sony cancelled an unannounced live-service game at Bend, alongside a live-service God of War at Bluepoint, “following a recent review.” VG247 Rock Paper Shotgun
In June 2025, GameSpot reported Sony confirmed Bend “wrapped development on a live-service concept” earlier in the year, “chose not to move forward with it,” and the studio is moving to “a new, unnamed project,” with about 30% of staff laid off. GameSpot
Corrections: “Potential live-service title” is contradicted — that concept was cancelled. “Reported search for a community manager for 2027” has no coverage in these outlets. “Reveal could still be a year or two away” — no reveal window appears in any allowed source.
Insomniac Games
Insomniac’s future Marvel slate is the murkiest part of this list. In the allowed sources, Venom, Spider-Man 3, and X-Men exist only as leak-based rumors from one December 2023 report about hacked documents — never confirmed by Sony or Insomniac. Dates from that leak have already slipped: Venom’s leaked 2025 window passed with no release, and Wolverine’s leaked 2026 window is the only one that materialized.
Marvel’s Venom — REPORTED RUMOR ONLY (LEAK-BASED)
Status: Reported rumor only. Not confirmed, not announced. A GameSpot / GameFAQs report from December 2023, attributed to PlayStation Lifestyle, said data leaked by hackers revealed Insomniac was working on Marvel’s Venom, X-Men, and Spider-Man 3. Leaked documents described “Venom: Lethal Protector” as “a spin-off akin to Spider-Man: Miles Morales — that’ll serve as a bridge between Spider-Man 2 and 3,” expected “sometime in 2025” in that leaked schedule. GameSpot / GameFAQs
Corrections: “Targeting 2027” — the only 2027 mention is a forum-quoted proposal, not editorial confirmation; the editorial leak report said 2025. “Starring Eddie Brock” and “faces Carnage” — no allowed source names Eddie Brock as protagonist or Carnage as villain of a standalone Venom game. No platform is stated.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 — REPORTED RUMOR ONLY (LEAK-BASED)
Status: Reported rumor only. Not confirmed, not announced. The same December 2023 leak report said Spider-Man 3 was “inevitable given the success of the first two games,” with a leaked expected window of 2028. GameSpot / GameFAQs Eurogamer (2023) noted several Spider-Man 2 team members had moved to Wolverine, while Insomniac “teased the kind of spin-off that may be on the cards” — a spin-off tease, not a Spider-Man 3 announcement. Eurogamer
Corrections: “Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and Silk together” — no allowed editorial source confirms Silk as playable or co-lead. “Against a Green Goblin army” — no allowed editorial source confirms Green Goblin as villain, let alone an army.
Marvel’s X-Men — REPORTED RUMOR ONLY (LEAK-BASED)
Status: Reported rumor only as a standalone game. Not confirmed, not announced. The same December 2023 leak report said leaked hacker data revealed Insomniac “working on Marvel’s Venom, X-Men, and Spider-Man 3 games,” and that “the existence of X-Men has taken fans by surprise.” No date could be cited from the retrievable text. GameSpot / GameFAQs
What is confirmed in allowed sources is that Marvel’s Wolverine is set before the X-Men form. GameSpot reports “the X-Men don’t exist in this version of Wolverine’s universe” — instead the game features Team X, “a globe-trotting group of mercenary mutants,” with mutants mostly in hiding. GameSpot That builds a mutant universe that could feed into a future X-Men title, but no allowed source confirms a standalone X-Men game’s story, cast, or links to Wolverine. “Potentially targeting 2030” has no date in any retrievable allowed-source text.
Bungie
New Destiny Project — CONTRADICTED IN THESE OUTLETS: NO GREENLIT PROJECT
Status: Reported pitches only. No greenlit new Destiny game in allowed sources.
GameSpot (via Bloomberg reporting) says there are “reportedly no plans to move into development on Destiny 3,” that “there is currently no project for the Destiny 2 team to move on to,” and that staff are “reportedly pitching new projects… including some Destiny-related titles, but none have currently been greenlit for production.” It also notes a planned Destiny spin-off codenamed Payback (“the next Destiny”) was canceled after Sony acquired Bungie. GameSpot
GameSpot reports Destiny 2’s final live-service content update lands June 9, 2026, after which Bungie will “begin work incubating our next games” — not Destiny-specific. GameSpot Game Informer reports Bungie’s future projects are in “incubation” and “too early to discuss.” Game Informer
Bungie has recommitted to Destiny 2 itself — in September 2026 it said Destiny is “foundational” and “absolutely not done with Destiny,” and will restore vaulted Destiny 2 campaigns, destinations, and raids — but that is about Destiny 2, not a new game. Game Informer Marathon’s struggles are supported in these outlets, with GameSpot noting Marathon player numbers dwindling and Bungie evolving it into a “deeper survival experience.”
Correction: “Another project in the Destiny universe is reportedly in the works” overstates it in these outlets. Pitches exist. None are greenlit. No timeline is given, because none is confirmed to exist.
Firesprite
Until Dawn 2 — CONFIRMED — January 28, 2027
Status: Confirmed, PS5 exclusive, January 28, 2027. Announced at the June 2026 State of Play, this cinematic choice-based horror game follows a crew of ghost hunters to Akishima Island. Decisions affect who lives and dies. It is “helmed by Firesprite” — not original developer Supermassive Games. GameSpot

GameSpot reports it “will launch exclusively for PS5 on January 28, 2027,” with pre-orders from September 10, 2026, developed by Firesprite and published by Sony. The crew are “ambitious ghost hunters” chasing a viral hit “on a remote island haunted by a woman’s chilling story of demons and ghostly phenomena,” investigating Blackwood Sanitorium. GameSpot / GameFAQs
Dispatch developer AdHoc Studio helped write the sequel’s story. GameSpot / GameFAQs “Co-written with AdHoc” is a fair paraphrase of “helped write” — this is one of the few entries where the viral list holds up almost exactly.
Guerrilla Games
Horizon Hunters Gathering — CONFIRMED GAME, REPORTED REBOOT (NOT SONY-CONFIRMED)
Status: Confirmed game. Reboot reported via Bloomberg, not confirmed by Sony. Correct title in these outlets is “Horizon Hunters Gathering” (plural “Hunters,” no apostrophe).
Announced in February 2026, it is a multiplayer game set in the Horizon universe, allowing up to three players in a group, with “more vibrant visuals” and combat that is “tactical, reactive, and deeply skill-based.” Two modes were revealed: Machine Incursion and Cauldron Descent, plus a social hub with vendors and upgrades. GameSpot Game Informer adds it is “coming to PlayStation 5 and PC,” with “more stylized art direction, more akin to an animated film,” three Hunters at launch with distinct weapons, classes (healer / damage / tank / tactician), and a roguelite perk system. Game Informer
Reboot: GameSpot (via Bloomberg) reports the game is “being rebooted to remove live-service,” stripping live-service elements after poor feedback. GameSpot Game Informer (via Bloomberg, Jason Schreier) reports: “Following poor feedback in private testing earlier this year, the plan now is to strip out the live-service component and turn it into more of a traditional cooperative multiplayer game with a story mode and a far smaller scope.” PlayStation “has yet to confirm or deny” and “declined to comment.” Game Informer
Horizon 3 — NO CONFIRMED TITLE — “NEXT SINGLE-PLAYER HORIZON” REPORTED AS YEARS AWAY
Status: No game called “Horizon 3” is confirmed. GameSpot (via Bloomberg) reports a “‘tiny team’ at Guerrilla is now ‘plotting out the next single-player Horizon game.’ This game is, however, ‘years away’ from being done.” GameSpot Game Informer (via Bloomberg) adds “most of the Horizon Forbidden West team is working on Hunters Gathering, not the next mainline entry.” Game Informer
The “long way off, partly due to resources devoted to Hunters Gathering” part is supported in substance. The name “Horizon 3” is not — sources only say “next single-player Horizon game” / “third mainline Horizon.”
Haven Studios
Fairgame$ — CONFIRMED AS FAIRGAME$ — “BREAK IN” AS A TITLE IS UNSUPPORTED
Status: Confirmed as Fairgame$. “Break In” as a new title is unsupported — in these outlets “Break In” is a game-mode phase, with the rename only as hedged speculation.
Haven Studios (PlayStation-owned, founded by Jade Raymond, Sony bought it in 2022) is making “a heist-themed competitive game for PS5 and PC called Fairgame$,” a “fresh, modern take on the heist genre” where players “steal from the rich to ‘rebalance the scales.'” Announced in 2023 with no release date or window at the time. GameSpot
Eurogamer reported Fairgame$ “has allegedly been delayed,” with insider Jeff Grubb saying it was “pushed to 2026.” Eurogamer GameSpot reported that after “poor reception to a test” / “a playtest proved unfavorable,” Fairgame$ moved “from a Fall 2025 release to Spring 2026.” Founder Jade Raymond left Haven; game director Daniel Drapeau later left for WB Games Montreal. GameSpot
GameSpot (via Insider Gaming) reports Fairgame$’s Cargo Heist mode plays in three phases — “Break In, which has players looking for a vault code and collecting cash to upgrade their skillset,” then Drill, then Extract. The same report says Fairgame$ will reportedly be free-to-play with microtransactions and that its “next playtest is coming up.” GameSpot The only allowed-source rename mention is a hedged “might have changed its name to Break In.” That is not confirmation.
Corrections: “Originally planned for 2025” is only partly supported — the 2023 announcement gave no date, so “Fall 2025” was an internal target, not a public plan. The Spring 2026 date is itself only reported, not Sony-confirmed. “Undergoing playtesting” is supported.
Media Molecule
New Unannounced IP — REPORTED RUMOR ONLY (IGN, INDIRECTLY EVIDENCED)
Status: Reported rumor only. Nothing confirmed by Sony or Media Molecule in the allowed sources. No editorial coverage was found in GamesRadar+, Eurogamer, VG247, Game Informer, GameSpot editorial, Rock Paper Shotgun, or GamesPress for a new Media Molecule IP, a 2027 game, or an Animal Crossing / Harvest Moon-style project.
The only trace is indirect: a GameFAQs forum thread quoting an IGN article titled “LittleBigPlanet Developer Reportedly Working on Animal Crossing-Like Game for 2027 Release,” reproducing its text that Media Molecule is “reportedly working on a new social-sim game, similar to Animal Crossing,” “in the vein of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon,” with the team to “announce and release the title in 2027, should everything go according to plan.” IGN (via quoted text)
We could not directly verify the IGN article fetch, so treat this one as indirect, not directly verified. “Possible reveal next year” is not supported — the quoted text says announce and release in 2027, not a separate earlier reveal. No platform, title, characters, or story are confirmed.
Polyphony Digital
Gran Turismo 8 — NO COVERAGE FOR A GAME CALLED “GRAN TURISMO 8”
Status: No coverage for a game called “Gran Turismo 8.” Only a generic “next Gran Turismo” quote exists.
GameSpot (2019) reported Yamauchi saying “obviously we’re working on the next Gran Turismo already,” and that it would be “a combination of the past, present and future — a complete form of Gran Turismo.” No title “GT8,” no date, no platforms, no 2023 timeline. GameSpot
Correction: “Confirmed by Kazunori Yamauchi to have entered early planning as far back as 2023” is NOT supported in these outlets. No allowed source reports a 2023 statement, an “early planning” phase, or the name “Gran Turismo 8.” Do not present GT8 as confirmed.
teamLFG
Project Gummy Bears — STUDIO + FIRST GAME CONFIRMED, CODENAME + DETAILS UNSUPPORTED
Status: Studio and first game confirmed. Codename “Project Gummy Bears” and its specific details have no coverage in these outlets.
Game Informer (May 7, 2025) reported ex-Bungie developers created teamLFG, a new PlayStation studio. teamLFG “originated at Bungie,” is based in Bellevue, Washington, “LFG” means “looking for group,” and it is working on an “ambitious incubation project.” Its first game is “a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games.” No codename, no date, no platforms, no pre-alpha or testing mention. Game Informer VG247 described the same announcement the same way. VG247
Corrections: Codename “Project Gummy Bears” appears in no allowed source. “MOBA reportedly featuring Super Smash Bros.-style elements” is not supported — MOBAs are just one of several inspirations, with no Smash Bros. comparison. “Entered pre-alpha testing last year” is not supported — no allowed source mentions pre-alpha, alpha, playtesting, or any testing milestone.
Classic PlayStation Franchises That Could Return
This is where the viral list drifts furthest from what the sourced outlets actually say. For all four classics below, the last firm word in these outlets is a denial, dormancy, or silence — not a revival in development.
inFamous — NO COVERAGE FOR A REVIVAL
Status: No coverage for a current revival. Older coverage explicitly said no game was in development. GameSpot (2022) reported Sucker Punch said it has “no plans to revisit Infamous or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either,” and “for now there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development.” GameSpot Game Informer reported the same statement. Game Informer No newer allowed-source report supersedes that. “A revival reportedly in development outside Sucker Punch” is not supported.
Sly Cooper — NO COVERAGE FOR A REVIVAL
Status: No coverage for a current revival. Dormant in these outlets. The same 2022 Sucker Punch denial covers Sly Cooper. GameSpot later cited Jason Schreier saying there was “no basis” to a Sly rumor and that Sucker Punch is a “one project studio.” GameSpot GameSpot (2025) reported co-creative director Nate Fox estimated only “10%” of the studio would be excited to make a new Sly Cooper after Ghost of Yotei, reiterating the 2022 “no Sly Cooper games in the works” statement. GameSpot “Rumored to be part of Sony’s efforts to bring back classic franchises” has no coverage in these outlets.
Ape Escape — NO COVERAGE FOR A REVIVAL
Status: No coverage. No revival coverage was found in any allowed outlet. The closest mentions are retrospective only — Eurogamer (2022) writing “We are, of course, well overdue an Ape Escape revival” as opinion and wish, not a report of a game in development. Eurogamer “Another possible revival, reportedly without Team Asobi’s involvement” is not supported.
Jak and Daxter — NO COVERAGE FOR A BLUEPOINT PITCH / MOVIE-LINKED GAME
Status: No coverage for a current project. Older coverage says no new game was planned. GameSpot (2021) reported Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells saying “we do not have Jak & Daxter here in development right now,” while noting fan demand. GameSpot Game Informer reported the same. Game Informer No allowed source mentions a Bluepoint Jak pitch, a movie-linked game, or any current Jak project. The viral list itself correctly flags “credible insider backing remains unclear” — in these outlets there is no backing at all.
What This Actually Means
PlayStation Studios’ real, dated slate right now is small and strong: God of War: Laufey (February 16, 2027), Until Dawn 2 (January 28, 2027), Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (reported 2027 at the soonest, full reveal in 2027), Horizon Hunters Gathering (announced, reportedly being reworked), Fairgame$ (reportedly delayed to Spring 2026), the God of War Trilogy Remake (very early), the untitled next Kratos game, two early-stage The Last of Us projects, and teamLFG’s first team-based action game.
Everything else on the viral list is either a leak that was never confirmed (Insomniac’s Venom / Spider-Man 3 / X-Men), a pitch that was never greenlit (Destiny), a cancelled concept replaced by an unnamed project (Bend), a title that does not exist in these outlets (Horizon 3, Gran Turismo 8, Break In as a title, Rag Tag Team, Sons of Sparta II, Subject Zero / Pearl), or a classic that the last firm reporting says is dormant (inFamous, Sly Cooper, Ape Escape, Jak and Daxter).
That does not mean none of those games will ever happen. It means — in the sources we limited ourselves to for this post — they are not confirmed. When Sony or the studios confirm them, we will update this list.
