Doctor Doom’s Castle Is a Roguelite Now — MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Reveals Its Siege of Castle Doom Mode, Live November 10

Doctor Doom in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom

Doctor Doom is done waiting for the heroes to come to him — actually, no. He is absolutely waiting for the heroes to come to him, and he has booby-trapped the entire castle for the occasion. Dotemu and Tribute Games have finally pulled the curtain back on Castle Doom, the all-new game mode headlining MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom, the next premium DLC for the tag-team co-op beat ’em up that has already pulled in more than 1.5 million players. The reveal came with a new gameplay trailer, and the DLC launches November 10 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Doom has a doomsday device. Of course he does.

The setup is peak Doom. Victor von Doom is building the Cosmic Inductor, a weapon designed to stop Annihilus and his Annihilation Wave — the small problem being that the device is flawed, and if Doom finishes it, it could end the cosmos as we know it. So the heroes are storming Castle Doomstadt to shut it down, guided by Reed Richards, while Doom throws everything in Latveria at them to buy himself time.

A beat ’em up, rebuilt as a run

Castle Doom is not just a new set of levels. It rebuilds the game’s brawling as a run-based mode where you choose your own path through the castle’s winding routes, picking which doors — and which fights — come next. Every encounter you survive charges the Stabilizer, Reed Richards’ creation and the one thing that can foil the Cosmic Inductor.

Along the way you will gather Battery Cells and complete challenges to earn upgrades from a pool of 12 different perks covering defense, damage, and tactical boosts, stacking your fighters into genuine powerhouses by the late rooms. Fail a challenge, though, and the castle punishes you with debuffs instead, on top of the traps Doom has laid through his halls. Surviving runs also permanently unlock new equipment and events from Reed’s Lab, plus modifiers that can make future attempts harder — and more rewarding.

Hovering over all of it is the Siege Gauge. The longer you take, the stronger the castle’s forces become, and if that gauge fills completely before you reach Doom for the final showdown, your run ends on the spot. Oh, and the welcoming committee includes Doom Bots and bosses from the base game coming back to settle scores. According to Tribute Games level designer Kevin Chiasson, writing on the PlayStation Blog, the Siege of Castle Doom packs in more than five times as many encounters as the main game — before counting the new events, traps, and hazards layered on top.

Doom and Sue Storm join the fight

The mode is the headline, but it is not the whole DLC. The Siege of Castle Doom also adds two playable heroes: Susan Storm, the Fantastic Four’s Invisible Woman, and Doctor Doom himself, because there is nothing more comic-book than beating Doom as Doom. Beating him also unlocks new color palettes for every playable hero who pulls it off, and composer Tee Lopes is back with new original tracks.

Why this DLC matters

Tribute Games already proved it understands this genre better than almost anyone with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and MARVEL Cosmic Invasion built on that with its Cosmic Swap system, letting you tag between two heroes mid-fight to mix and match abilities against the Annihilation Wave. A roguelite-flavored castle run is exactly the kind of mode a game like this needs to keep co-op groups coming back after the credits roll — new routes, new builds, and a very personal grudge match waiting at the top of the castle.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom launches November 10, 2026. Doom is waiting. Bring a friend — the castle is not designed for solo heroes, whatever Doom tells you.
