We dive into such topics like “How did Nick Cage inspire you?” Seriously things get deep here. Also – Nintendo gets really, really dark this week and The Hype Zone reminds us why the Big N should be charging WAY more for its online service. This is Nintendo Duel Screens Episode 60!

Steve can’t figure out what week it is (its the week of September 25th regardless of what he tries telling you during the show). The boys go over some of the big news of the week,  share some intimate memories of the Final Fantasy VI/III, and they discuss whether or not 30 frames per second really matters. Trophy Whores 285 – Get the Towels Ready

It’s Alex’s first show back from a lengthy hiatus, and the Trophy Whores have already discussed — at length — the classic 8-bit Mega Man series.  Alex wouldn’t have it any other way — especially if everyone agrees that Mega Man 3 is the best game in the original series.  Tricky argues for Mega Man 4, and while he might have questionable taste in video games, his argument lends credence to the power of nostalgia.  You’ll smile when you hear to what lengths Tricky went to stay up (past his bedtime) and play Mega Man 4.

Lucia sits out this week, probably because he is disgusted with Tricky’s passion for Mega Man 4, as well as The Division, but even with four hosts, the Trophy Whores record for nearly three hours.  What can you do with three hours?  Listen to this episode, silly.  You can also take a long-ass nap, but we’re talking video games, and you want in on that action.  When a podcast starts with heavy amounts of the Blue Bomber and professional wrestling, then you know that things are going to run long.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Extra Life, Black Friday, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Titanfall 2.

With the Game Awards approaching, the Trophy Whores try to predict the winners for two categories: Game of the Year and Most-Anticipated Game.  Per usual, every nominee deserves recognition and praise; however, among the Trophy Whores, Uncharted 4, Overwatch and Horizon take top billing.

Trophy Whores 260 – Helldive Into Doom

While Yield is fending off polar bears and killer whales in Alaska, the Trophy Whores — and Lucia — carry the torch through episode 260.  Lucia, who is a strong candidate to become the unofficial fifth Trophy Whore, joins the Whoresmen for the third week in a row.  If anyone can handle the silliness and absurdity that is the Trophy Whores podcast, it’s the man called Ionvein.

Between the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game, Mutants in Manhattan, and the latest movie, Out of the Shadows, pop culture is inundated in the ooze of the Heroes in a Half-Shell. Despite the low scores that Mutants in Manhattan has received, Donny probably ranks it above Watch Dogs, which is getting a sequel before summer of 2017.  Donny will, surely, have a terse spoken review — even if he doesn’t play the game.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Helldivers, Doom, Watch Dogs 2 and Assassin’s Creed.  The Trophy Whores are all over the place this week, but that means that you get more bang for your buck.  It’s like walking into a restaurant and ordering spaghetti, and when you finally get your food, the server brings you a plate of pasta and an ice cream sundae.  Strap in for an adventure fit for four teenage turtles named after Renaissance painters.

Trophy Whores 259 – Shell-Shocked By Superheroes

Nate is not a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan.  The former unofficial fifth Trophy Whore has never been afraid to brandish his opinion like a bludgeon, so you know that he can be brutal.  Nate dismantles Mutants in Manhattan.  Donny is a bit less harsh when describing his experience with Mutants in Manhattan, but, unfortunately, if you have been expecting another Turtles in Time, then you need to lower your expectations.  Rocksteady and Bebop deserve much better.

In that same vein, of heroes being super, The Trophy Whores, as well as Nate and Lucia, bounce from the Heroes in a Half-Shell to Charles Xavier’s X-Men, who must stop the wrath of Apocalypse from destroying our world.  Smart money is on the X-Men.  Even if there are casualties along the way, the X-Men always seem to come out on top.  Xavier doesn’t train wimps.

Nathan Drake and Batman are pretty super, too, and if you consider how often Drake saves the day, as well as how often he escapes peril, then we can safely and legitimately call him a superhero.  Drake is a hero, so why don’t we take that extra step.  Batman has been a revered superhero for decades, but now that Rocksteady Games’ Arkham series has gamed so much fame, we can all appreciate the Dark Knight’s badassery so much more.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Helldivers, Hitman: Agent 47, Overwatch, and No Man’s Sky.  The mystery surrounding No Man’s Sky has garnered a lot of press and attention from gamers; however, if you want to play No Man’s Sky, then you will have to wait a little longer, as the game has been delayed.  In the meantime, Nate recommends Overwatch, which has received positive reviews left and right.

Trophy Whores 244 – Super Whores Sunday

Tricky and Alex celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with each other — as well as a guest who has no rooting interest in the game.  To be fair, Tricky is a Giants fan, and Alex likes Packers, so no one has a stake in the Lombardi Trophy this year.

Some people play for trophies and accolades on the gridiron, while others play for trophies and honors on the PlayStation Network.  The Trophy Whores prefer the couch.  You don’t get hit nearly as hard when you are sitting in front of your television and have a PlayStation controller in your hand.

Even without two of the Four Whoresmen, silliness abounds.  Join our team of virtual football champions and armchair MVPs as we discuss, among other things, Apotheon, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Doom, and World of Tanks.  We’ve got more than football on our minds this week.  Who doesn’t like pizza, wings, or Nathan Drake?  He didn’t make it to the Super Bowl halftime show, but if you keep your eyes open, you might catch Nate on the horizon.
