During the Switch presentation and shortly after online on their website, Nintendo announced some of the specs for the Nintendo Switch as well as some of the online features that will be included.
One of the major things shown during the Switch were the features of the Joy-Con Controllers. Each controller can be used on its own as a full-fledged controller. It will support gyro and accelerometer features and also have rumble vibration support.
Depending on the game being played the Switch battery will last 2.5-6 hours by game. Players will be able to charge the console using included AC adapter and portable batteries. On their website, Nintendo gave an example game of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lasting roughly 3 hours on a single charge.
Local multiplayer will be available on the Switch. Up to 8 Switches can be connected at once with local multiplayer.
The Switch will also feature online multiplayer gaming. Nintendo has announced online interactions can be done through smart devices. Through phones and tablets, players can invite friends to play, chat, and set up play-dates. Users will get a free trial period to try out the online features before it becomes a paid service in the Fall of 2017. No price was given for the online features.
The Switch will also feature a monthly game download. Players will gain access to a NES or SNES game for a month through this paid feature.
It was also announced the Switch will not use region locking for its games. It will be a region free console.
