Dark Souls: Remastered and Tropical Freeze for Switch Highlight Nintendo Direct

Earlier today Nintendo had a new direct highlighting some of their upcoming content for this year. Like many directs, they saved arguably the best for last, announcing that Dark Souls: Remastered will be making its way to the Switch this year on May 25. The game will include the Artorias of the Abyss DLC and will have an improved resolution and framerate.

Along with the Dark Souls announcement, several Wii U port announcements were a major part of the direct. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be coming to Switch on May 4. Additionally, Highrule Warriors will be coming to Switch this Spring. Check out the full list of game updates, announcements and the archived direct below:

  • The World Ends With You Final Remix coming to Switch this year.
  • Aeigislash and Blastoise confirmed for Pokkén DX.
  • Kirby Star Allies coming March 16.
  • Dragon Quest Builders demo available now for Switch.
  • Mario Tennis Aces coming this Spring to Switch.
  • YS VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana launches on Switch this Summer.
  • Free competitive balloon hunt mode featuring Luigi coming to Super Mario Odyssey in February.
  • SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will release for Switch this Summer.
  • Donkey Kong coming as playable character to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle this Spring.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct Coming November 7th

Nintendo has announced that they will be having a Nintendo Direct focusing on the upcoming RPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The direct will happen on Tuesday, November 7.

The stream will begin at 6am PT.

Pokkén Tournament on Switch Highlights Pokémon Direct

Nintendo just wrapped up an eight minute direct focusing on upcoming news for the Pokémon franchise. The presentation started with the reveal that Pokkén Tournament would be making its way to the Switch with Pokkén Tournament DX(Deluxe). The announcement was followed by a trailer, showing off new playable characters for the ported fighting game. Along with the original 16 characters, five new playable Pokémon will be included. There will also be 3v3 battles, ranked battles, and lobby-based friend matches for online play. The game will be playable at E3 next week and will be released on September 22.

On the handheld side, Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon was also announced for the 3DS. The games will feature an alternate story, with Pokémon that didn’t appear in the original versions. It will release on November 17. Finally, Pokémon Gold/Silver were revealed for release on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. They will both launch on September 22.

Nintendo Hosting Pokémon Direct Tuesday Morning

A week before E3, Nintendo has announced that they will be having a Pokémon Direct Tuesday morning. The direct will begin at 7 a.m. PT and is expected to last somewhere around eight minutes. At this time, Nintendo hasn’t released any other information about the stream at this time.

Nintendo’s E3 direct will take place a week from Tuesday at 9 a.m. PT.

Nintendo Direct Coming Tomorrow

Nintendo has announced that they will be holding a new Nintendo Direct stream tomorrow. The stream will focus on its upcoming fighting game arms, but will also show a new trailer for Splatoon 2.

The direct will take place at 3PM PST tomorrow. The stream will be viewable on the Nintendo website.

Splatoon 2, Arms, and Accessories Highlight Nintendo Direct

Nintendo just wrapped up their latest Nintendo Direct. The direct targeted upcoming titles for both the Switch and 3DS. The major focuses of the direct were information on Splatoon 2, Arms, and Switch accessories.

Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 will launch on July 21. Highlighting the presentation was an introduction of a new cooperative mode, “Salmon Run”. The familiar team-based battles were replaced by 4 players working together to fight off waves of “Chum” and “Steelhead Bosses” who were corrupting the map. Defeating these enemies gave players power eggs which helped them in their fight.

Along with the new mode three new amibo for Splatoon 2. Check out the full Splatoon portion of the direct below:


Arms

Arms, Nintendo’s upcoming fighting game will launch for the Switch on June 16. Along with the release date, the presentation showed two new gloves, new stages, and the latest member of the roster Minmim. Two additional game modes were also revealed. The first will be a two-on-two fighting mode. The second allows players to earn coins which can be used to purchase new gloves. Check out the full Arms presentation below:

Switch Accessories

Release dates for additional Switch accessories have been announced. First, on May 19, stand-alone docks will be available for purchase. On June 16, a new color for the Joy-Con controller (neon yellow) and a battery pack for Joy-Con controllers will be released.
