After receiving a fair amount of criticism for the structure of loot boxes and progression in the beta for Star Wars Battlefront 2, EA has announced some changes to the system before the launch of the game.
The main complaints against the system were that some of the best weapons and abilities for multiplayer could be accessed through loot boxes. In response to this, the following changes have been made to the system:
- Epic Star Cards, the highest tier of Star Cards available at launch, have been removed from Crates
- Players will need to reach a certain rank to craft upgraded Star Cards
- Weapons are locked behind specific milestones
- Class-specific gear and items can be unlocked by playing as them
