Retro fans, this one is for you. Dizzy is back. Philip and Andrew Oliver, the original creators of Dizzy, have announced The Eggcellent Dizzy Collection, bringing three games together on one collectable SEGA Mega Drive compatible cartridge. The announcement was made at Crash Live in Coventry, and it kicks off the countdown to Dizzy’s 40th anniversary year in 2027.
The collection packs three cracking games onto one mega 16-bit cartridge: Dizzy the Adventurer, Go! Dizzy Go!, and Panic! Dizzy. The lineup covers three very different sides of the character. Dizzy the Adventurer is the fairy-tale adventure, where you set out to rescue Daisy. Go! Dizzy Go! is colorful maze action with arcade challenges. Panic! Dizzy is brain-teasing puzzles across three puzzle challenges, testing your thinking and reflexes. Together, they offer a chance to rediscover the humor, imagination, and playful challenges that made Dizzy a favorite, whether you grew up with the egg or you are meeting him for the first time.
For anyone who did not live through it, Dizzy was a genuine phenomenon in British gaming. First published by Codemasters in 1987, Dizzy helped establish the Oliver Twins as familiar names in British gaming when they were still teenagers. The egg-shaped adventurer went on to star in more than a dozen titles across the Spectrum, Amiga, NES, and Mega Drive, becoming one of the most recognizable characters in UK gaming history. Now, with Dizzy turning 40 in 2027, the collection celebrates one of British gaming’s most recognizable characters and the fans who have kept his adventures alive for nearly four decades.
There is also a neat bit of unfinished business here. A Mega Drive compilation featuring these same games was reportedly planned back in the 1990s but never reached shops. The Eggcellent Dizzy Collection finally gives that idea a second chance, more than 30 years later, as a proper physical release for collectors.
That physical side is a big part of the appeal. This is not a digital re-release or a ROM dump. It is a real cartridge you can put on your shelf, designed for long-standing collectors and newcomers alike. The trailers suggest Dizzy the Adventurer and Go! Dizzy Go! have received visual enhancements, looking sharper and more detailed than their original releases. Panic! Dizzy is the wild card of the three: an unreleased NES game originally made in 1992, finally getting an official release as part of the collection.
The release is being funded through Kickstarter, and the campaign has not opened yet. Fans can visit the Kickstarter preview page now and click “Notify me on launch” to hear when the campaign opens. There is no confirmed price or shipping date yet, and the collection is planned for release in 2027, timed to Dizzy’s 40th anniversary. If you are a retro collector, that notify button is worth hitting, because physical retro releases like this tend to move fast once the campaign goes live.
