DICE, EA and Lucasfilm announced today that Star Wars Battlefront will be released on November 17th in North America and November 19th in Europe as thousands of fans at Star Wars Celebration watched the first full-length trailer. Star Wars Battlefront is a stupendously authentic and immersive experience built in the Frostbite 3 engine that was previously seen in Dragon Age Inquisition.
“Like so many others around the world, everyone at DICE is a tremendous fan of the Star Wars universe,” said the Senior Producer of Star Wars Battlefront, Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir. “To be working on a Star Wars project and knowing we are helping to represent the universe we love to our generation and a legion of new Star Wars fans is truly an honor. Thanks to the access and knowledge shared with us by Lucasfilm, and the passion and talent of our team, we plan to deliver an amazing game that puts you right in the middle of theStar Wars battles you always imagined playing.”
Star Wars Battlefront will let Star Wars fans such as myself live out heroic moments and battles using blasters, speeder bikes, snow speeders, AT-ATs, TIE fighters and the Millennium Falcon. As suspected, Star Wars Battlefront has you visiting Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and Sullust, which has, to my knowledge, not been explored in any story/official lore. You’ll also be able to play as Darth Vader and Boba Fett and more. In Star Wars Battlefront, there will be a wide range of modes tailored for different battle types, from 40-person competitive multiplayer to carefully crafted missions you can play by yourself, with a friend on the same screen via split-screen or co-op online.
If you pre-order Star Wars Battlefront, which I don’t recommend due to how little I know, you can download the Battle of Jakku, which is being touted as a pivitol moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Out Rim. This battle takes place after the Battle of Endor and will allow you to experience Jakku, before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This battle will be available for all those who pre-order on December 1st, 2015. Anyone who doesn’t pre-order will get it later for free on December 8th, 2015.
As noted in the opening paragraph, Star Wars Battlefront will be available in North America on November 17th and starting November 19th in Europe for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and on PC via EA’s Origin distribution software.
