Trophy Whores 333 – The Game Awards Go Wild

We finally get to our Game Awards discussion, during which Tricky renews his rivalry with the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.  Horizon Zero Dawn — thought nominated — did not win an award.  Does Guerrilla Games deserve recognition for their masterpiece?  Yes.  They do, forever.  And while Horizon didn’t win big at the Game Awards, if you look at the votes on the PlayStation Blog, then you know that there’s no shortage of love for Guerrilla’s best game to date.

Tricky, Alex and Yield join forces to produce the best — and wittiest — banter to keep you warm through the cold January nights.  Grab and bowl of chili, find your favorite blanket and snuggle up with the Platinum trophies of podcasting.  We’re like Swiss Miss hot chocolate for your ears!

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Inside, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Horizon Zero Dawn.

In a bit of big news, iHeartRadio streams episodes of Trophy Whores, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. Trophy Whores 332 – A Recurring Case of Anal Glaucoma

Tricky can reel off Marvel’s Infinity Stones from memory.  Let’s all give him a round of applause.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Horizon Zero Dawn was the king of all things PlayStation in 2017.  Congratulations to Guerrilla Games and Aloy, as they took home an impressive amount of honors and awards — as decided by PlayStation users and fans.  We hope that it isn’t too long until we again pal around with the fiery and brave Nora warrior.  After all, we’re never safe from the robot menace.

This week, Tricky and Alex cover a lot of ground and seem to discuss anything — and nearly everything — that is on their minds.  From the first (ever) WWE women’s Royal Rumble to smoke breaks for employees, if you want a podcast that is as delicious as a fried bologna sandwich, then you’ve found it!

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Inside, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered, Dark Souls: Remastered and Horizon Zero.

Gameplay Trailer for Dark Souls III DLC – Ashes of Ariandel – Sure to Send Chills Down Players’ Spine

Bandai Namco has released a gameplay trailer for the upcoming DLC for Dark Souls III titled Ashes of Ariandel, and will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC digitally on October 25th.

Ashes of Ariandel places the “Ashen One” in a vast snowy field, hindered by the chilling mist that haunts the surrounding area.  The player must fight their way through this new biome in the Dark Souls series, avoiding any ambushes that await them.

As to be expected, the trailer features new enemy types that you will encounter while exploring the new terrain.  New weapons can be shown in the trailer, although it never went into detail to show what these new weapons are actually capable of.  Two bosses were shown during the trailer; One which seemed to have multiple forms, and a very familiar looking mini-boss encounter….

Bandai Namco’s Brutal Action/Adventure RPG Prepares For It’s 2016 Debut

Dark Souls 3 is the latest installment in the Dark Souls series by Bandai Namco and has been confirmed to release in North America April 12th, 2016.  Since its release in March of 2015, Bloodborne has become a growing success, and fans of the Souls’ series who have explored the dark, mysterious world of Yharnum were introduced to a faster style of gameplay as opposed to the slower, more strategic pace that fans were used to in the previous Souls’ series.  Developer From Software aims to continue this style of gameplay in its newest installment by mixing the best of both worlds by enhancing the roll mechanic to function faster, like in Bloodborne, along with the blocking mechanic familiar in Dark Souls.

Bandai Namco released a gameplay trailer in December which was also later revealed at PSX 2015 that showcased the game’s improved gameplay, but at a price, for enemies were also as brutal and relentless as ever.  Players fortunate enough to make it through the wooded path are engaged in combat on a cliff side leading to a castle like structure only to be met with enemy spear-like projectiles from a distance, as if hurled by a distant foe simultaneously.  After fighting their way through the onslaught of enemies with Bloodborne influenced characteristics, players find themselves in a courtyard surrounded by yet another angry mob and a seemingly harmless Oak tree in the background….
