Trophy Whores 307 – Lick it Like a Polaroid Picture

Maybe it’s an Ohio thing.  Yield might have misspoke, because Andre 3000 didn’t teach him to do that.  Or maybe it’s an Ohio thing.

We live in strange times.

This week we reveal the winner of the Trophy Whores E3 predictions battle royale.  While the ruling was appealed by at least two Trophy Whores, in the end, competition judge Sid heard arguments from both sides and picked a winner.  No one wants to look like a sore loser, or question the great Sid, so the win stands.

After taking Father’s Day off, we have a lot of ground to cover in the wake of E3 2017. Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Rocket League, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human, Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition, Uncharted and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Much like Uncharted, which is set to continue beyond the Lost Legacy, Horizon: Zero Dawn has become a franchise, and Sony Interactive Entertainment wants to feed us all that we can handle.  Alex will be waiting at the trough.  Horizon has sold well and garnered fantastic reviews from critics, including Alex, so, this news comes as no shock.  While franchises can become stale and played out, we trust Sony to handle their intellectual properties much better than either Activision or Ubisoft.  If Sony plans — which we don’t anticipate — to release a new Horizon game every year, giving the series what we can call the “Call of Assassin’s Hero” treatment, the awkward love triangle between Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and Guitar Hero, then we might want to get off of the Strider and search for greener pastures.

In a bit of big news, iHeartRadio streams episodes of Trophy Whores, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. It’s a tremendous honor for the show to be part of iHeartRadio’s massive and respected community, and Proven Gamer have only the fans to thank for pushing the podcast to this point.  The Trophy Whores work hard to put out a quality weekly show, but they owe so much love to their listeners, who keep the show strong and growing.

Trophy Whores 305 – Expo of Platinum Prophecies

This week, we share our predictions for the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017.  As every year, the competition is fierce.  Alex and Mark are each looking to claim his first victory, while Tricky and Yield look to repeat previous wins.  Yield has won twice; Tricky won last year.  While everyone is confident that he has the best lineup of predictions, this year, it’s anyone’s game.  Well, Jeff Goldblum isn’t playing, so I guess he can’t win.  Bill Pullman isn’t involved; he’s out.  You know, let’s exclude the entirety of the Independence Day cast.  They’ve got another shitty sequel to film.

Our focus might be situated on E3, but the latest PlayStation Plus freebies for the Instant Game Collection are about to drop, and you know that we need to talk about Killing Floor 2 and Life is Strange.  Mark wants in on the intense action of Killing Floor 2, while Alex wants to play Life is Strange and show off his shutterbug skills.  All things considered, June comes in as another strong month for PS Plus.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, PlayStation Plus, Need for Speed: Payback and Life is Strange.

Trophy Whores 304 – A Far Cry From Kingdom Hearts 3

This week Alex hosts, which means that you can expect brilliant segues and at least one BioShock reference.  With Mark and Stephen helping to navigate the latest video game news, we’ve got you covered on all the facts and stories that you need to know.  For instance, did you know that Sony Computer Entertainment needs to green-light a Heavenly Sword sequel?  Fact.

Early 2018 won’t lack heavy hitters.  Before the end of spring, Ubisoft will release Far Cry 5, and 2K Games will ship Red Dead Redemption 2.  While both games have evoked palpable excitement, Red Dead Redemption 2, a long-awaited sequel from Rockstar Games, has no doubt created a larger stir.  Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed; however, as always, 2K Games releases games when they are fit to sell.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Marvel Heroes Omega, Marvel’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Trophy Whores 296 – Crash Through the News

The Trophy Whores are barreling toward episode 300 like an 18-wheeler on an icy mountain road.  They can’t be stopped.  They won’t be stopped! To 300 — and beyond!

As we move through winter, the news is picking up.  There’s much to talk about this week, and the Trophy Whores rip through headlines like a buzzsaw through a row of pinatas.  Similes never go out of style.  You know what else never goes out of style?  Crash Bandicoot.  The furry orange tornado returns to PlayStation on June 30 in Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Double Dragon IV, Rocket League, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Street Fighter V, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

In a bit of big, big news, Trophy Whores has been approved for iHeartRadio, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. Trophy Whores 295 – The Tricky Rule

This week, the Trophy Whores share sad news: Masaya Nakamura, who founded Namco, has passed away.  He was a pioneer in the video game industry, and Proven Gamer want to pay our respects to Nakamura and his work.

As always, the guys have the latest and greatest news from the world of PlayStation, including the February lineup of free games, courtesy of PlayStation Plus, as well as the PlayStation firmware update 4.50, which enables external HDD support for the PlayStation 4.

In a bit of big, big news, Trophy Whores has been approved for iHeartRadio, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Double Dragon IV, DC Universe Online, “The Tricky Rule,” Starwhal, and PS4 Pro Boost Mode.

The Trophy Whores also debate President Donald Trump’s attempts to increase the number of manufacturing jobs in the United States, which includes a potential tariff that increases the prices of video games and consoles.   At this point, the tariff is merely an idea, but the Trophy Whores share their concerns about its possible implementation.

Trophy Whores 255 – Gold Bolt Treasure Mapping

It’s an exciting time to be a PlayStation 4 owner.  Ratchet, Clank and Nathan Drake are back in the spotlight, which means only good things for the PlayStation family.  Galactic heroes Ratchet and Clank are beloved Insomniac Games’ characters, and they never seem to wear out their welcome.  Drake (and Elena and Sully), too, ranks highly among Sony’s most endearing and enduring characters.  In less than a month, Sony Computer Entertainment and Naughty Dog will release Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End — possibly the end of Drake’s adventures.  The Trophy Whores — and fans — can’t wait to get their hands on it.

The Trophy Whores dedicate much time to PlayStation All-Stars Drake, Ratchet and Clank, but the Four Whoresmen always have plenty to talk about — even if it isn’t important.  Donny could entertain in a discussion about napkins and Valencia oranges, and when Alex goes on a rant about Assassin’s Creed or World Wrestling Entertainment, it’s equal parts nonsense and brilliance.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and PlayStation NEO.  With the release of a “PlayStation 4.5,” Sony risks upsetting players who invested early in the PlayStation 4.  As Tricky says, Sony seems to take one step forward and 10 steps back.  We can only hope that Sony doesn’t alienate PS4 early adopters, as buying another $400 console so soon would be too much for a lot of gamers.  Unlike Ratchet and Clank, most of us aren’t rolling around in gold bolts.
