Trophy Whores 385 – Tricky’s Tales from PAX East

Tricky returns from Boston with tales from PAX East.  He fulfilled Yield’s shopping list; however, what did he think of the games on the show floor?  Tricky spills all the details on his annual trek to Boston.  What’s more, he, Gimli’s favorite cousin, teases the return of a recent guest.  What’s the big deal about PAX?  We have all of the answers.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Psychonauts, Super Meat Boy Forever, Borderlands 3 and PUBG.

We are happy and proud to share that Proven Gamer has partnered with the Humble Bundle! Trophy Whores 382 – Take Exit 3 to Boston

We’re on the road to PAX East, and with Tricky sitting out this week, Alex and Yield discuss a (potential) sequel and a spiritual successor that are sure to drive gamers into a frenzy.  You should stock up on munitions and find a safe house, because before we get to PAX, we’re taking on hordes of zombies.  But have no fear, because this episode is very co-op friendly.  Bring a pal!

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, God of War, Psychonauts and Borderlands.

Trophy Whores 265 – Figments of Donny’s Imagination

It’s the middle of the summer, and the news has dried up like a salted slug in the Sahara.  When the Trophy Whores are low on news, they turn Donny loose like a Rikki-Tikki-Tavi in a cobra hole.  Somewhere, Tricky hopes that the figments of Donny’s imagination don’t run wild.

While Donny has been busy with Double Fine’s Psychonauts, the fine folks at Hello Games have been readying No Man’s Sky, which has garnered immense hype and excitement. No Man’s Sky has gone gold, which means that we’re one step closer to playing it.  If you were a little sour about the latest delay, pushing No Man’s Sky to October, then you can finally turn that frown upside down.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Ratchet & Clank, No Man’s Sky, The Warriors, and Shadow of the Colossus.  Resident Darrell, of Remember the Loot fame, has been playing Shadow of the Colossus, which, if you ask Alex, is one of the best video games ever made.  The feeling of taking down each Colossus is equal parts triumphant and heartbreaking, as somber tunes accompany every behemoth to its final resting place.  While its age shows, the story and concept of Shadow of the Colossus still inspire awe and adoration among its fans.

Trophy Whores 264 – Mightiest Number of 3

Alex runs the show this week, so you know that he’s gonna wreak Havok — like Alex Summers in X-Men: Apocalypse.  When Tricky is away, the Trophy Whores will play like three bandits who happen upon an unsupervised truck of video games.  The Trophy Whores, and Proven Gamer, don’t endorse larceny, or theft of any kind, but if it will make for a good simile in a banner introduction, then we’re all for it.  Truth is, we appreciate great video games, clever pop culture references and brilliant similes.

This week the Trophy Whores mix new- and old-school, as they take you to the depths of Rapture and the woods of Whispering Rock Summer Camp.  With BioShock and Psychonauts on the agenda, Alex perks up like a Green Bay Packers fan in September.  Tricky perks up during football season, too, because it means that comic relief, courtesy of the New York Giants, is on the way.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, BioShock Infinite and Mighty No. 9.  Critics have not been kind to Mighty No. 9, Keiji Inafune and Comcept’s spiritual successor to the beloved Mega Man series.  While bad reviews can be detrimental to sales, Alex, a longtime Mega Man fan, and Yield aren’t deterred by the naysayers.

Trophy Whores 228 – Donny’s One-Man Stand Against Remakes

Donny knows Alex well, which is — partially — why he brings up Psychonauts. Truth be told, he’s a fan, too. Who isn’t? It is a fantastic, imaginative game, and, as one of Alex’s favorite games, it holds a special place in his heart.

Beyond placating Alex’s ardor for nostalgia and Double Fine Productions, Donny sounds the battle horn and calls for podcasters to band together, demanding an end to the seemingly endless stream of video game remakes. Donny might have a point, given how many remakes have landed on the PlayStation 4; however, we always have Until Dawn, right?

Join our jubilant squad of Hulkbusters and Marvel superheroes, as we discuss, among other things, Disney Infinity, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, New York Comic-Con, iHeartRadio and, of course, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Given how much Tricky and Donny talk about the game, we should all be Metal Gear Solid experts. Alex now knows more about The Phantom Pain than he knows about the menu at Qdoba Mexican Grill — and he has ordered many burrito bowls!
