Mutant Football League coming January 19th

Blood. Bones. Fangs. Touchdowns? Mutant Football League, the spiritual successor to the 1993 Sega Genesis cult classic Mutant League Football, is finally being released on PS4 and X-Box One. The NFL Blitz style 7 on 7 football starring insane characters will be smashing its way to your consoles on January 19th. Press release is as follows:

MORTON GROVE, Ill. – Jan. 5, 2017 – After receiving heaps of threatening letters, angry late-night phone calls, and one unmarked box of manure (wrapped in holiday paper, natch), indie game developer Digital Dreams Entertainment has finally relented and will release Mutant Football League™ for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners on January 19th, 2018.
The bloody-fun, next-gen spiritual successor to the 1993 Sega Genesis classic Mutant League Football will invade the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and spark new debates about soft balls, shotgun hits, and proper decapitation protocol.

Football fans and gamers will experience deep strategic 7-on-7 gameplay, bone-crunching and tooth-shattering hits, plus a roster of comical ghouls delivering tongue-through-cheek humor. Oh, and-of-course blood. Lots of blood.

Mutant Football League features legendary voice-over actor Tim Kitzrow; best known for his work in one of the great classic sports games of all time, NBA Jam, with such memorable sound bites as “He’s on fire!” and “Boomshakalaka!” A few MFL refs were bribed to guarantee the commentary of Mutant Football League on PS4 and Xbox One remained as foul-mouthed as the original smash hit PC version. It’s like Conker’s Bad Fur Day for sports fans!  However, don’t worry… there is an option to turn off the expletives in case small children or Republican senators are in the room.

Mutant Football League for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launches on January 19th, 2018.

I for one have many fond memories of Mutant League Football and cannot wait to sink my claws and tear this one limb from limb.

Xbox One Release Date Revealed

Today, September 4th, 2013, Microsoft announced the release date for the Xbox One to be November 22nd for both the US and European markets. This means that Xbox One will be released one week after PlayStation 4 in the US and one week before in Europe. The Wii U, Nintendo’s contribution to this generation of consoles, will have been out for a year by then.

With the Xbox One being the last to come out in the US market and the most expensive system (starting at $500), it would seem that it does not bode well for Microsoft, but Microsoft Chief Marketing Officer, Yusuf Mehdi, claimed that they had, “sold out of our pre-order supply in the U.S. faster than at any other time in our history.” It looks like it will be a hard fought battle between PS4 and Xbox One for who will win the next gen and with the Wii U doing lackluster in sales, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top!
