KENA: BRIDGE OF SPIRIT NAMED TRIBECA OFFICIAL SELECTION IN FESTIVAL’S DEBUT DEDICATED GAMES PROGRAMMING

Independent game development and animation studio, Ember Lab, is proud to announce that its upcoming game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, has been named an Official Selection at next month’s Tribeca Festival in the event’s inaugural programming track dedicated to Games. As an Official Selection, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is eligible for the first-ever Tribeca Festival Game Award. Ember Lab will premiere all-new gameplay during the festival, which runs June 9-20, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits will be available for hands-on remote play to some festival ticket holders..

Celebrating its 20th year, the Tribeca Festival, presented by AT&T, brings artists and diverse audiences together to celebrate storytelling in all its forms, including film, TV, VR, games, music, and online work. With strong roots in independent film, Tribeca is a platform for creative expression and immersive entertainment. Tribeca champions emerging and established voices; discovers award-winning filmmakers and creators; curates innovative experiences; and introduces new technology and ideas through premieres, exhibitions, talks, and live performances.

“It’s always been our mission to tell the most immersive stories possible, whether in our short films, commercial work, or our first game,” said Mike Grier, co-founder and chief creative officer of Ember Lab. “We are deeply honored to be acknowledged by a festival as prestigious as Tribeca and thrilled to be part of this premier class of game official selections.”
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a story-driven action-adventure that seamlessly blends a compelling narrative with exploration, puzzle-solving, and fast-paced combat for a beautiful, immersive journey. The game puts players in the role of Kena, a young Spirit Guide, and takes them through a tale of self-discovery as she uncovers an abandoned village afflicted with corruption. Wandering spirits, trapped between worlds, sow chaos and unnatural decay. With the help of tiny forest creatures called Rot and her knowledge of the Spirit Realm, Kena faces the pain of her own loss as she untangles the secrets of this forgotten community.

“This year’s selections showcase the potential for phenomenal storytelling in interactive experiences, with characters and worlds that explore the deep connection we have to ourselves and the world around us,” said Casey Baltes, Vice President of Tribeca Games. “From action/adventure to interactive thriller to intimate point and click narratives, these selections demonstrate a range of story and gameplay as well as visual style. We fell in love with the characters and the worlds that each game presented to us.”

Launching August 24 on PS5, PS4, and PC, Kena: Bridge of Spirits can be preordered today on the PlayStation and Epic Games stores. For additional information, please visit EmberLab.com.
