Stop what you’re doing — there’s a free demo for one of the coziest games on the horizon. Knights Peak and Windup Games have released a playable demo for Hela: of Mice & Magic on Windows PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC App, with full Steam Deck support, as part of Steam Next Fest.
The demo is a self-contained adventure on a bespoke map inspired by northern Sweden. You play a tiny mouse tasked with rekindling the witch’s protective warding magic and collecting enough Glimmer to find your way home — solving physics-based puzzles with your magic-infused Froggy pack, uncovering hidden secrets, and lending a paw to creatures along the way.
It supports solo play or local split-screen co-op, and solo players get the Shade System, which summons magical duplicates of your mouse to help with obstacles and puzzles.
The full game launches December 1, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 (digital plus a limited physical Harmony Edition), and digitally on Xbox Series S and PC. It hits Xbox Game Pass on day one.
