SCP horror fans, your next nightmare has a date. Independent developer and publisher Zatun has released a launch trailer for SCP: Project Pneuma, its first-person psychological survival horror game, ahead of the game’s Steam Early Access launch for Windows PC on October 25, 2026. A playable demo is available now if you want to test your nerves before committing.
The setup is pure SCP dread. A catastrophic containment failure has brought Site-19 to its knees. The corridors stand abandoned, the containment systems have collapsed, and dangerous anomalies now move freely through the facility. You play as Dr. Alexander “Alexie” Kolchak, a Foundation researcher who survived the collapse, searching the ruined facility for the truth behind the breach. The catch: the anomalies cannot be confronted by ordinary means. You do not fight them. You evade them, learn their rules, and pray you understood those rules correctly.
The new trailer leans hard into atmosphere. Oppressive environments, anomaly-driven encounters, and a shifting perception of reality are the order of the day. As Alexie ventures deeper into Site-19, hallucinations begin to distort familiar spaces, making it increasingly difficult to tell genuine danger apart from the effects of his deteriorating mind. It is the classic SCP formula, and for fans of the universe, it is exactly the right formula: the horror comes from systems you barely understand, in a place designed to contain things that should not exist.
Gameplay-wise, SCP: Project Pneuma mixes first-person exploration, stealth, environmental puzzles, investigation, and scarce-resource survival. You piece the story together through journals, voice recordings, abandoned equipment, and environmental evidence, learning how to survive encounters with anomalies that each follow their own distinct rules. That rule-learning loop is the heart of a good SCP game. Every entity is a puzzle with teeth, and the price of a wrong guess is usually your life.
The Steam Early Access release includes the complete Chapter I campaign, with multiple explorable environments, investigation mechanics, environmental puzzles, and encounters with four named anomalies: SCP-173Z, SCP-096Z, SCP-939Z, and SCP-239Z. If those designations ring a bell, you already know roughly what kind of bad time you are in for. If they do not, all the more reason to play the demo first.
Zatun is an independent studio based in Ahmedabad, India, and the company describes Project Pneuma as its most ambitious title yet. The studio has also said the game is ultimately planned for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, though the October 25 launch is PC only via Steam Early Access. For now, PC players get to be the first ones to walk the halls of Site-19.
