The wait is finally almost over. Chucklefish announced today that Witchbrook, its magic life-sim that players have been watching for nearly a decade, will launch on January 28, 2027 — and the news came with a brand-new gameplay trailer revealed during today’s Nintendo Indie World showcase.
There was a second reveal tucked inside the announcement: a PlayStation 5 version is joining the lineup. Witchbrook will now launch day one on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, priced at $24.99. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Witchbrook casts you as a witch-in-training enrolling at Witchbrook College in Mossport, a bustling seaside town that serves as the game’s home base. Your days are split between the classroom and the town itself. At the college you attend classes and complete assignments in subjects including Alchemy, Astrology, Tarot, and Rituals, study to pass your exams, and gradually unlock new spells on the road to graduation.

What you do between lessons is largely up to you. You can forge friendships — and find romance — among a colourful cast of characters, start your own witch business providing magical services to the local community, join a club, or take part in seasonal events around town. When you want to slow down, there is birdwatching, bug-catching, and fishing, plus a cosy woodland cottage to renovate and a garden to shape into your own. Your witch is fully customisable, from clothing and hair to accessories.
None of it has to be done alone, either. Witchbrook supports online multiplayer for up to four players, so your whole coven can attend classes, explore Mossport, and build a life there together.
The new trailer offers a fresh look at student life: attending classes, casting spells, studying for exams, and putting that knowledge to work, alongside library browsing, potion and salve-making, tarot readings, and a first look at some of the magical creatures waiting in and around Mossport. Chucklefish also released new screenshots and key art alongside the date announcement.

Witchbrook is Chucklefish’s fourth in-house title, co-developed with Robotality, the studio behind Pathway and Wargroove 2. Chucklefish is best known in-house for Starbound and the Wargroove series, and as the original publisher of games including Stardew Valley, Risk of Rain, and Eastward. The game will launch in ten languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
After years of anticipation — and more than one shift in its release window — January 28, 2027 is the first hard date Witchbrook has ever carried, and it lands on just about every platform at once. If you have been keeping a spot on your cozy-game list for this one, you can finally write the date in ink.
Witchbrook launches January 28, 2027 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 for $24.99, and day one on Xbox Game Pass.
