Hard West 2 Is Finally Riding Onto PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — and Your Soul Is the Price

Hard West 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players, saddle up — the occult turn-based tactics hit is finally coming to consoles on November 10, 2026. Klabater, Good Shepherd Entertainment and Ice Code Games announced the console launch on November 5, 2026, ending a four-year wait for console gunslingers who have watched PC players chase the Ghost Train since the game first rode out in August 2022.

It is a big deal for tactics fans on console. Hard West 2 is not a straight cowboy shooter, and it is not a by-the-numbers tactics clone either. It is a dark, supernatural spin on the Wild West where revolvers, demons, witches and poker hands all share the same battlefield, and where every bullet you fire can be the difference between a legendary kill streak and a posse wiped out in the dust. The PC original earned a Very Positive rating from Steam players and a 77 on Metacritic, and now it is about to find a whole new audience — just in time for the holiday season.

Hard West 2 PS5 Release Date and Platforms

Hard West 2 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Tuesday, November 10, 2026. The announcement confirms a current-generation-only release, with no PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version mentioned, and the game is available to wishlist now on both console storefronts. PC players can already grab it on Steam, where it is priced at $29.99 — although the publishers have not confirmed console pricing in the announcement, so console players should keep an eye on their store of choice as launch day approaches.

The timing is no accident. A November 10 launch puts Hard West 2 in front of players right as the holiday gaming season heats up, and it gives tactics fans something substantial to chew on between the year’s biggest releases. November 10 is shaping up to be a surprisingly stacked Tuesday, with the Apex Legends Godzilla event also arriving that day, but Hard West 2 is the one bringing demons, cursed gold and a stolen soul to the party.

Rob the Ghost Train, Lose Your Soul

Hard West 2 follows Gin Carter, a legendary outlaw who sets out on a mission to rob the mysterious Ghost Train. It sounds like the perfect score — until it becomes clear that gold is not the real prize. Instead, Carter has to fight to reclaim his own soul, and to do it he will need every member of his growing posse.

Together, the gang travels across the diverse lands of the Weird West, from snow-covered vistas to rough frontier towns, taking part in duels, train robberies and horseback chases along the way. The setting is the game’s greatest strength: folktales of the far West collide with the darkness of the occult in an unforgiving land that, as the developers put it, is riddled with as many demons as there are bullets. It is a world where nothing is as it seems, and where the people riding beside you include teleporting witches and other mysterious beings as well as plain old gunslingers.

The story is not just window dressing, either. As you wander the frontier you will have to make brutal choices and live with the gruesome consequences. The people closest to you will remember what you ask of them — and choosing poorly will test their commitment to your cause.

Bravado, Poker Hands and a Posse That Talks Back

At its core, Hard West 2 is a tactical, turn-based combat game in which you command a group of gunslingers, each with unique abilities that develop through combinations of mysterious playing cards. Unearth cards to build your posse’s poker hands, then kit them out with punchier guns, explosives, trinkets, or just a square meal of beans and whiskey to keep them in top six-shooter shape.

The signature system is Bravado. Rack up kills to activate your Bravado State and replenish your Action Points, then chain together stylish kills on multiple foes to extend your streak. It is a mechanic that rewards aggression: instead of hunkering down behind cover and trading pot-shots, the game wants you to keep moving, keep shooting, and keep the kill chain going. Pulled off well, a single turn can snowball into a spectacular sequence of takedowns that feels less like a tactics game and more like the climax of a great Western.

What Makes Hard West 2 Different From Other Tactics Games

That risk-and-reward loop is what sets Hard West 2 apart from the tactics crowd. The combat takes place in dynamically shifting environments, so the battlefield itself keeps your brain as busy as your trigger finger — think shootouts on the move, chases on horseback and tense train hold-ups rather than static grids. Add in a loyalty system, where the right choices earn Loyalty Points and useful new skills for those closest to you, and every mission becomes a balancing act between winning the fight and keeping your posse together.

It is a formula that has already won over PC strategy fans, and it is a natural fit for console players who have been waiting for a tactics game with real personality. Company of Heroes 3 just got its biggest update ever, and Dawn of War IV’s Last Stand mode is back — strategy fans have been eating well this week, and Hard West 2 is the next course.

Four Years Later, Is the Console Version Worth the Wait?

Console players are not taking a gamble on an unproven game. Hard West 2 has had four years on PC to earn its reputation. It launched on Steam on August 4, 2022, holds a Very Positive rating across 1,363 English-language Steam reviews, and scored 8/10 from GameSpot, which called it “a hardy, accomplished turn-based tactics game with several flashes of genius,” and 8.5/10 from PC Gamer, which called it simply “a superb tactics game.” That is the kind of track record most console ports can only dream of.

The pedigree behind it helps explain why. Developer Ice Code Games is a Warsaw-based veteran team focused on deep, tactical gameplay in distinctive settings, and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment has a catalogue that includes Monster Train, Phantom Doctrine, the Transport Fever series and the critically acclaimed John Wick Hex. Klabater, which is handling the console release, has published more than 30 games on PC and consoles and has built its name as a porting and publishing partner for independent developers.

There is also a wider trend at work here. Proven PC hits making the jump to console have been a theme of this week’s news — Stellar Blade just landed on Switch 2 with NieR and Bayonetta in tow — and Hard West 2 is another strong example of a game finding a second life on new hardware. For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners who love turn-based tactics but missed the game the first time around, November 10 is the date to circle.

So mark the calendar, get the wishlist ready, and start practising your poker face. The Ghost Train leaves the station on November 10, 2026, and this time, console players get to ride it. Just remember: in the Weird West, the gold is never the real price. Your soul is.
