MARVEL Cosmic Invasion’s Castle Doom DLC Drops Nov. 10 — and You Can Play as Doctor Doom

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion — Doctor Doom battles the Invisible Woman in the Castle Doom DLC for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is about to get a lot more Doom in it. Dotemu and Tribute Games have revealed extended gameplay from The Siege of Castle Doom, a new downloadable content pack for the retro-inspired arcade beat-’em-up, and it launches on November 10. The DLC adds a brand-new Doctor Doom-themed game mode, a new playable hero in the Invisible Woman, and — in the twist every Marvel fan will want to hear about — Doctor Doom himself as a playable character.

It is a big moment for a game that has already become a hit. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion has passed two million players since launch, and the team behind it — the same studio that made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge — is clearly not slowing down. The Siege of Castle Doom is the game’s first major post-launch expansion, and it takes the fight somewhere the base game never went: straight into Doctor Doom’s own castle.

As shown in the extended gameplay trailer released by Dotemu via Games Press, the DLC arrives on November 10 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

What Is the Castle Doom Mode in MARVEL Cosmic Invasion?

The heart of the DLC is Castle Doom, a new game mode built around a single, deliciously comic-book premise: Doctor Doom has launched an attack on the world, and the heroes have to fight their way through his castle to stop him. The extended gameplay shows the mode in action, with heroes battling through Doom’s halls, taking on his forces room by room, and building toward a final confrontation with the Latverian monarch himself.

It is a structure that suits MARVEL Cosmic Invasion perfectly. The base game is a galaxy-spanning brawl against Annihilus, with heroes fighting across the cosmos in the game’s signature retro arcade style. The Siege of Castle Doom narrows the focus to one location and one villain, and that focus should make for a tighter, more intense experience. A castle siege is a classic beat-’em-up setup: a gauntlet of enemies, a memorable boss at the end, and a clear reason to keep pushing forward.

The new mode also gives the game a fresh reason to gather a group of friends. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion supports co-op play, and a castle full of Doom’s minions is exactly the kind of thing that is better tackled together. The trailer shows the mode’s action at full tilt, with heroes juggling enemies, chaining attacks and working through the castle’s defences as a team.

Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom Join MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

The DLC’s other headline is its roster. The Invisible Woman joins the fight as a new playable hero, bringing the Fantastic Four’s most versatile member into the game’s already enormous cast. In the comics, Sue Storm is far more than the team’s support player — her force fields and invisibility make her one of the most powerful heroes on the planet — and it will be fascinating to see how Tribute Games translates that into a beat-’em-up moveset.

And then there is Doctor Doom himself. The DLC lets you play as Doom, which is the kind of character choice that immediately changes how a game feels. Doom is not a hero, and he does not fight like one. Playing as the villain — in his own castle, no less — is a fantasy that few Marvel games have offered, and it is a smart way to make this DLC feel distinct from the base game.

With the new additions, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion now features a roster of more than 30 playable characters. That is a remarkable number for an arcade beat-’em-up, and it is a big part of why the game has found such a large audience. With that many heroes to choose from, every player can find a favourite, and every run can feel different.

Why MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Became a 2 Million Player Hit

It is worth pausing on that player count. Two million players is a serious achievement for a retro-style beat-’em-up, and it speaks to how well Tribute Games understood the assignment. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is not a modern open-world Marvel game. It is a throwback: a side-scrolling, arcade-style brawler in the spirit of the classic Marvel arcade games, rebuilt with modern polish, a huge roster and the studio’s trademark feel for weighty, satisfying combat.

That formula has clearly resonated. The game launched to strong reviews and a warm reception from players, and it has kept growing since. The decision to follow it up with a Doctor Doom DLC is a natural one: Doom is one of Marvel’s most popular villains, the Fantastic Four are back in the spotlight, and a castle siege is the perfect stage for a beat-’em-up.

The timing is good, too. A November 10 launch puts The Siege of Castle Doom in players’ hands well before the holiday season, when co-op games and party-friendly brawlers tend to do their best work. If you have been looking for a reason to return to MARVEL Cosmic Invasion — or to finally pick it up — this is a strong one.

When Does the MARVEL Cosmic Invasion Castle Doom DLC Launch?

The Siege of Castle Doom launches on November 10 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The extended gameplay trailer is available now, and it is well worth a watch if you want to see the Castle Doom mode, the Invisible Woman and Doctor Doom in action before launch day.

Dotemu and Tribute Games have built a reputation for treating beloved franchises with care, and MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is the latest proof of that. A two-million-player hit, a Doctor Doom castle siege and a playable Doom himself: the Latverian monarch may have picked the wrong heroes to mess with, but for the rest of us, it is very good news indeed.
