PlayStation 4 system update 1.70 will be available to download in Europe from 30th April, Sony has announced via Twitter. A tweet from the company announced that the update, which includes both the SHAREfactory and option to switch HDCP off, will be launching at the end of the month. Presumably North America will be getting it around the same time.
In case you missed it, SHAREfactory is a “new rich video editor app for PS4 that makes it easy for you to customize your gameplay videos.” These videos can then be uploaded to Facebook directly, or put on a device connected via USB.
The update will also see you able to pre-load games you’ve purchased ahead of release, meaning when the clock ticks over to launch day you’ll be able to play them instantly. Finally, the option to switch HDCP off means you can capture directly from HDMI out, which should make things significantly easier for anyone wanting to create longer clips of gameplay or walkthroughs.
