Total War: Warhammer Announced

SEGA of America, SEGA Europe announced a new title in the Total War franchise today from United Kingdom studio Creative Assembly, whose most recent work is Alien: Isolation and will be the first game that has been developed with Games Workshop, who created Warhammer Fantasy Battle, a tabletop game franchise as well as a series of mini figures.

In its 15th year, Total War tasks players with controlling a unique combination of huge-scale real-time battles and addictive campaign of statecraft, politics and empire building.

Total War: Warhammer will take the best of both Total War and Warhammer‘s respective franchises to provide the series with a realm of grand high fantasy for the very first time. The rules of the game have changed, but as of yet, it is not entirely clear what that entails.

In the new game, players will discover that the Old World is an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with wars that are endless and the must cunning of alliances. However you choose to play, rest assured that the plot will stay the same.

Total War: Warhammer will be the first in a trilogy of titles and will deliver “hundreds of hours” of gameplay and will combine with two upcoming standalone installments as well as several content packs to create one big Total War experience.

“We’ve always loved the Warhammer universe, and couldn’t wait to approach it with the same colossal scale and authenticity that has characterised our titles for the last 15 years,” said Total War: Warhammer Project Lead, Ian Roxburgh. “We’re bringing it to life in a way that nobody’s attempted before.”

You can watch the trailer below if you want a better taste of what this new partnership will entail and includes Steven Berkoff, for your very amusement.
