World of Warcraft Classic and Battle for Azeroth Expansion Announced

World of Warcraft Classic, a server that will run the classic, vanilla version of the game was announced at BlizzCon 2017. No release date was given for the server, but it’s in development.

After the reveal of the vanilla server, the latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth was announced. It will expand the story in the battle between the Horde and the Alliance. The trailer showed off a new continent and the evolving conflict between the two factions. Battle for Azeroth will feature new dungeons, warfronts, allied races, raids, and uncharted areas to explore. More information will be revealed in upcoming WOW panels during BlizzCon. The new expansion is also playable for people at the show.

The World of Warcraft portion of the opening ceremony closed with the reveal of the opening cinematic for Battle of Azeroth.


New Map, Hero, and Reinhardt Cinematic Revealed for Overwatch

Blizzard World, a new map was announced for Overwatch. The map will go live next year for all platforms. However, it will be on the PTR soon. The map is hybrid, meaning it will be part payload and part assault.

After the reveal of the map, Blizzard announced that Moira, a new support class hero will be coming to the game. The reveal trailer shows Moira, healing and dealing damage using a yellow and purple orb. One of her abilities, “Fade” allows her to move quickly around the map.

Along with Blizzard World and Moira, an additional announcement and the origin video for Moira was teased for an upcoming panel.

A new cinematic short was also shown, giving fans the backstory of Reinhardt. The video shows the events that led to Reinhardt becoming a member of Overwatch.


Kobolds and Catacombs Expansion Coming to Hearthstone

Hearthstone is always a major part of BlizzCon, and this year was no different. After recapping the new expansions, the final expansion, Kobolds and Catacombs was announced.

The expansion will be themed around dungeons, traps, loot, and caves. After the reveal of the expansion, the show turned into a “Choose Your Own Adventure”, as the audience as given choices such as going through a tunnel or door. This led to the reveal of the first Legendary Card, Marin the Fox. This card gives players the chance to open a chest and reveal a powerful card. Starting on Monday, players who log into the game will get Marin the Fox for free.

After meeting Marin the Fox, two new doors were presented to the players. A new card was revealed after going through a trap door, “Crushing Walls”, a hunter card was shown.

“Recruit” was announced as the new keyword for this expansion. It will give players the ability to pull a minion directly from their deck and into the battlefield.

Legendary weapons were also announced for all nine classes. More cards for all classes will be announced during BlizzCon.

Finally, a new single-player mode, “Dungeon Run” was announced. Players will go against bosses, earning new cards to build their deck with. The mode was described as a “Hearthstone Rogue-like” and will be free-to-play.


BlizzCon Touches Down in Anaheim This Weekend

BlizzCon 2016, Blizzard Entertainment’s two-day gaming festival, returns Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California!
