The next entry in Ubisoft’s Assassain’s Creed franchise was announced earlier today, and will bring the series to another European city. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will be set in London during the Victorian Era (1868 to be precise). For the first time, the game will start two assassin protagonists, siblings Jacob and Evie Frye. Ubisoft Montreal stated that Jacob will play a bigger role in the story, but both characters will indeed be playable. The studio claims that Syndicate will the biggest and fastest game in the series to date. New tools such as a rope launcher, and the ability to ride in horse-drawn coaches will allow for much faster travel around London.
Other new game mechanics have been added Syndicate as well, such as the ability to enlist the help of street gangs during your quest throughout London. Ubisoft Montreal also claims that the combat system has been refined to more of a brawler, with emphasis on weapons such as the hidden blade, as well as a new weapon, brass knuckles. Ubisoft Montreal will attempt to redeem the Assassin’s Creed franchise when it launches on October 23, 2015 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
