Sony opened their 2015 press conference with a bang as they re-revealed Japan Studios’ game The Last Guardian. The game was originally stated for a holiday 2011 release, but after complications the game was consistently delayed. Many thought that The Last Guardian was dead, but Sony has revived the game and given it a relapse window of 2016.
The Last Guardian is a puzzle-adventure game that stars a young boy teaming up with his guardian beast to solve multiple puzzles in a ruined world. Gameplay footage shown at Sony’s press conference revealed a ruined Greece setting, keeping up footage shown back in 2011.
The Last Guardian is being developed by Team ICO, who previously worked on Shadows of the Colossus and ICO. The Last Guardian seems to keep the same art style as Team ICO’s previous titles, and appears to be in good shape after all these years.
The Last Guardian is scheduled for a 2016 release. Hopefully The Last Guardian does not receive any more delays so that we can all experience Team ICO’s long awaited puzzling adventure.
