Heists, police chases, and revenge highlight the story mode of Need for Speed Payback. After announcing the game would have three playable characters, Tyler, Jess, and Mac, a new gameplay trailer was shown. The gameplay featured the characters attempting to steal a sports car off of a moving truck on a desert highway. Things quickly go wrong as drivers show up to protect the truck and the crew needs to take them down as well as stay with the truck.
The heist ends with Jess, the female character jumping onto the roof of the truck, disabling it, and stealing the sports car inside. Just as the cops show up, the trailer comes to a close.
