Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Is Streaming NOW on Netflix — and Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.5 Drops in Two Days

Night City is having a very busy week. CD Projekt RED has announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the follow-up to the beloved anime series, premiered on Netflix on October 20, 2026 — all ten episodes are streaming right now, exclusively on Netflix. And in the same announcement, the studio confirmed that a new Cyberpunk 2077 update, version 2.5, launches on October 22, 2026, bringing content inspired by the new anime into the game itself.

For anyone who somehow missed the phenomenon, the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was one of those rare adaptations that did more than just advertise the game. It told its own complete, heartbreaking story in Night City, and it sent a huge wave of players back to Cyberpunk 2077 — a resurgence so big it helped fuel the game’s entire redemption arc. Edgerunners 2 is being positioned as a standalone series rather than a direct continuation, with an all-new cast, so you do not need to have seen David and Lucy’s story to jump in.

The new season is once again a co-production between CD Projekt RED and Studio TRIGGER, the animation studio behind the first series’ kinetic style. It is directed by Kai Ikarashi with Kanno Ichigo as Lead Character Designer, and some familiar creative hands are back: Masahiko Otsuka returns as a collaborator, and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor serves as showrunner, story writer, and producer. Both Edgerunners series stream exclusively on Netflix.

Now for the game side. Update 2.5, dubbed the Edgerunners 2 Update, brings content inspired by the anime to Cyberpunk 2077 along with other new items and features. It releases October 22, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after.
