Wuthering Waves 3.8 Brings Lily, a New Main Quest and Big Echo Upgrades on Nov. 12

Wuthering Waves — a misty mountain temple landscape in Wuthering Waves version 3.8

Wuthering Waves is heading into its next chapter, and it is bringing a brand-new hero with it. Kuro Games has revealed Version 3.8, Lilies in a Dying Dream, which launches on November 12 with a new five-star Resonator called Lily, a new main quest, a new Echo to collect and a set of quality-of-life upgrades that should make building your team a lot less painful.

It is a substantial update for a game that has quietly become one of the biggest open-world action RPGs around. Wuthering Waves has now passed 30 million downloads, and it was named the winner of The Game Awards 2025 Player’s Voice Award. Version 3.8 is the kind of update that explains why: a new character, a new story and a long list of improvements, all arriving at once.

As announced by Kuro Games via Games Press, Version 3.8 Lilies in a Dying Dream launches on November 12 on PlayStation 5, PC, iOS and Android.

Meet Lily, the New Resonator in Wuthering Waves 3.8

The star of Version 3.8 is Lily, a new five-star Glacio Resonator. Her full title is Lily, Aegis Astarta, and her backstory is one of the most intriguing in the game so far. She was once the leader of the Nightingale Society, but she has since left that life behind to become a free spirit, wandering the world on her own terms.

That history is not just flavour text. The new main quest, also called Lilies in a Dying Dream, follows Lily as she returns to Thessaleo Fells, a place described as being buried beneath snow and silence. The quest promises answers about her past, about the Nightingale Society she used to lead, and about her bond with Galbrena. It culminates in a quest chapter called The Lily of the Valley, and players will be able to play through the new main quest as Lily herself.

It is a smart way to introduce a new character. Rather than simply adding Lily to the roster and leaving players to figure her out, Wuthering Waves is building its next story around her. Players who want to try her out before the update launches will also be able to test her combat skills in a new event, Lily’s Trial, which lets you get a feel for how she plays before committing to pulling for her.

New Echo, New Sonata Effects and Echo Upgrades in Wuthering Waves

Version 3.8 also adds a new Echo, Nightmare: Kelpie, which players will be able to absorb and add to their collection. Echoes are the heart of Wuthering Waves‘ build system, and a new Nightmare Echo is always a reason to get back out into the world and hunt.

But the bigger news for long-term players may be the Echo system upgrades. Version 3.8 adds a new Echo Sets tab to the Echo interface, making it easier to see and manage your sets at a glance. Echoes will also be able to be equipped before they are levelled up, which removes one of the game’s most annoying bits of friction: the need to invest resources in an Echo before you can even try it in a build. On top of that, the Echo Collection Rate is being increased, and new Nightmare Tacet Field challenges are being added, along with two new Sonata Effects — Star of Promise and Requiem’s Call.

Taken together, these changes should make Wuthering Waves noticeably friendlier to play. The Echo system has always been deep, but it has also been fiddly, and Version 3.8 looks like a genuine attempt to smooth out the rough edges without dumbing anything down.

Wuthering Waves 3.8 Events and Login Rewards

As with every major Wuthering Waves update, Version 3.8 comes with a generous set of events and login rewards. The headline event is Nightingale’s Echoing Wish, a login event that runs from the launch of Version 3.8 on November 12. Log in for seven days during the event and you can claim Astrite x200, Radiant Tide x5, Lustrous Tide x5, Malleable Elite Class Echo x1, Premium Tuner x20, Forgery Premium Supply x1, Advanced Sealed Tube x3 and Forgery Advanced Supply x1.

There is more where that came from. The Pioneer Podcast event rewards players for completing designated tasks during the first half of Version 3.8, with Astrite x360, Lustrous Tide x5, Premium Enclosure Tank x1, Premium Sealed Tube x2, Advanced Enclosure Tank x1 and Advanced Sealed Tube x1 on offer. And Lily’s Trial gives players a chance to experience the new Resonator’s combat skills first-hand.

It is a familiar pattern for Wuthering Waves players, and a generous one. Kuro Games has built a reputation for rewarding its community, and Version 3.8 continues that tradition with a login event that is worth showing up for every day.

When Does Wuthering Waves Version 3.8 Launch?

Version 3.8 Lilies in a Dying Dream launches on November 12. The update introduces Lily, a new five-star Glacio Resonator, a new main quest that digs into her past and the Nightingale Society, a new Echo in Nightmare: Kelpie, new Sonata Effects, and a set of Echo system improvements that should make the game smoother for everyone.

For a free-to-play open-world RPG, Wuthering Waves continues to set a remarkable pace. Thirty million downloads and a Player’s Voice Award later, it is still adding characters, stories and systems at a rate that would make most live-service games jealous. If you have been away from Solaris-3 for a while, November 12 is a very good day to come back.
