Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee announced. | Pokemon Quest OUT NOW!

The Pokemon 2018 Video Game Press Conference was held last night and we finally know what Pokemon games are coming to the Switch. We were also given a treat in the form of a mobile/Nintendo Switch game called Pokemon Quest, which is out now for Switch with mobile to follow “soon”.

Pokemon Quest is being called “Free to Start”, which indicates some form of cost coming. Whether that is in the form of a one time payment or a stream of micro-transactions remains to be seen. Pokemon Quest has you collecting and battling cube-like variations on the classic 151 Pokemon in an action RPG-like battle system. You collect “power stones” that are used to directly power up your Pokemon. Stay tuned to Proven Gamer for more in-depth thoughts soon as we sink our teeth into it.

Also revealed is the moment we were all waiting for – Pokemon on Switch. It appears many of the rumors circulating the internet prior to this conference were mostly true as Let’s Go Pikachu and Lets Go Eevee are the two titles coming to Switch on November 16th 2018 world wide.

Lets Go! Pikachu & Eevee revisits the Kanto region with the original cast of 150 Pokemon at your disposal. There is a deep integration with Pokemon Go in the ways that you now catch Pokemon, but also that you can transfer Pokemon from Go to Let’s Go. For what those Pokemon will be used for remains to be seen, although they showed these transferred Pokemon in place called Go Park.  You can play this version many ways, which fits the Switch’s gimmick to a T. Play with one Joy Con or even with a special pokeball peripheral. You can even take your Pokemon on a walk with you using this new pokeball (Pokewalker anybody?). We cannot tell if you battle wild pokemon or if you just need to throw pokeballs, which would be a real bummer.

Please stay tuned to Proven Gamer as more information is made available.

Pokémon Go Adds iPhone Exclusive AR+ Mode

Pokémon Go will soon be adding an enhanced augmented reality(AR) feature on iPhones 6s and newer that are running iOS 11.

AR+ will allow Pokémon to be positioned on the screen better and their size will be more accurate based on what is around them.  Players will now be able to see changes in perspective and size as Pokémon move closer or further away.

AR+ will also add new ways to catch Pokémon. By moving closer one before trying to catch it, a capture bonus will be added for the player. However, Pokémon can potentially be aware of this distance and flee if a trainer gets too close.

Pokémon Go is currently available for iOS and Android devices.

Real-World Weather Added to Pokémon Go

Dynamic weather is being added into Pokémon Go. This is the first time that real weather will impact an augmented reality game.

As players play Pokémon Go, the in-game map will reflect the current weather that the player is experiencing outside of the game. The real-world weather will impact what type of Pokémon are more likely to show up at a given time. Additionally, certain attacks will also be more effective in specific weather conditions.

Along with the weather addition, new Pokémon from the Hoenn region are now available in the game. These new creatures include Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, with more to be added soon.

Pokémon Go is available now on iOS and Android devices. Check out the trailer introducing dynamic weather below:

Trophy Whores 312 – Brolin Warps into Deadpool 2

He’s back!  Who’s back?  I guess you’ll have to listen to find out.

We don’t often lean on teasers, but when we do, they’re hot enough to scorch the flame on a Magmar’s tail.

This week, Alex continues his quest to earn the Platinum trophy in the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.  He’s well on his way, considering that he has two of the three Platinums.  Thanks to PlayStation Plus, we’ve got new Instant Game Collection titles for August, and one of the games opens an Assassin’s Creed discussion — during which Alex isn’t completely pessimistic.  According to Alex, if you set a game in ancient Egypt, you’re already one step closer to success.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Deadpool 2 — the movie!

Josh Brolin, who has starred in movies like The Goonies, Mimic and No Country for Old Men, has been cast as Nathan Summers in the upcoming Deadpool sequel.  We’re sure that Ryan Reynolds is pleased, as no one in his or her right mind can object to Brolin playing Scott and Jean’s gruff and tough son.

In a bit of big news, iHeartRadio streams episodes of Trophy Whores, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. It’s a tremendous honor for the show to be part of iHeartRadio’s massive and respected community, and Proven Gamer have only the fans to thank for pushing the podcast to this point.  The Trophy Whores work hard to put out a quality weekly show, but they owe so much love to their listeners, who keep the show strong and growing.

Legendary Pokémon Could Make First Appearance in Pokémon Go This Weekend

Niantic and the Pokémon company have announced that the first appearance of the Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO could take place this weekend at Pokémon GO Fest. This would be the first opportunity for trainers to discover, battle, and potentially catch the Legendary Pokémon.

In order to make the Legendary Pokémon appear, it will require teamwork not just from trainers at the festival in Chicago, but also from trainers around the world. Players at the event must catch enough Pokémon and unlock bonuses, while players from around world work to keep those bonuses active. If this is done long enough, the Legendary Pokémon will then appear in Chicago, giving trainers to participate in the first Legendary Pokémon Raid Battle. This will not only give trainers the opportunity to catch them, but if defeated, the Legendary Pokémon will start appearing in Raid Battles across the globe. Improved Gym Experience and New Cooperative Gameplay Coming to Pokémon Go

Niantic and the Pokémon Company have announced that new features and updates are coming to Pokémon Go. A revamped gym system will release today, and a subsequent update will introduce a new group gameplay feature known as Raid Battles. Both of these updates will be free for all players.

Gyms will now all have a wheel for players to spin, much like PokéStops that will give players special items. Trailers will also receive Gym Badges, which can be leveled up to get more rewards and items. Six permanent slots will now be controlled by the team that has ownership of the gym. Trainers will fight the Pokémon in the order that they were assigned to the gym. In addition, a new motivation system will be added that will impact the Combat Power of the defending Pokémon. Over time, if gym Pokémon continue to lose they will have a drop in motivation.

Raid Battles are the over feature that will be coming to the game in a few weeks. Trainers will be able to team up with others nearby and work together to fight Pokémon known as Raid Bosses. These will be timed events that will take over for gyms when they are in place. Defeating the bosses will give players the chance to earn items, and gain the opportunity to catch the bosses.

Niantic, Inc. and The Pokémon Company International have announced an additional 80 Pokémon will begin to appear in Pokémon GO later this week. These include Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region from the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver , including Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Trainers will encounter these Pokémon “in the wild” as they embark on adventures and explore their neighborhoods and cities to catch Pokémon. In addition to Pokémon that will appear in the game for the first time, the latest update introduces new gameplay mechanics for Trainers to master, including new encounter gameplay, new Evolution items, two new Berries, and expanded outfit and accessory options for their Trainer avatars.

“Today is a momentous occasion for Pokémon GO as we welcome more Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for the passionate global community of Trainers playing the game,” said John Hanke, founder and Chief Executive Officer, Niantic, Inc. “Pokémon GO is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come.”

“With Pokémon GO, The Pokémon Company endeavored to create a compelling game based on the concept of encountering and catching Pokémon in the real world,” said J.C. With the latest Pokémon GO game update, new Pokémon evolution options will give players the ability to use new Evolution items to evolve their Pokémon into ones that were originally discovered in the Johto region. While catching Pokémon, Trainers can use two new Berries—the Nanab Berry, which slows a Pokémon’s movements, and the Pinap Berry, which doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt succeeds. Trainers will also be able to customize their avatar’s appearance with a new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items. Additional items will be available for purchase from the in-game Pokémon GO shop.

Pokémon Go Has Made $14 Million Since Launch

If you haven’t been confined under a rock this past week, you might’ve taken a glance on social media and noticed the latest trend sweeping the nation.  Nintendo has launched Pokémon Go, an augmented reality game for IOS and Android devices which has users scurrying about with the help of their GPS to track down their favorite Pokémon in their local neighborhoods and cities.  It’s fun.  It’s addicting.  And most of all, it’s a colossal success so far!  Superdata Research Analysts has reported that Pokémon Go has raked in an estimated $14.04 Million in just four days after it’s launch.  Its’ predecessor, Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, only made $14.03 Million in its’ entire lifespan of 509 days.

Pokémon Go’s success is no surprise to analyst, but some question the longevity of the game and whether or not users will still be interested in the near future.  Other analysts have reported that Pokémon Go is competing with Twitter in it’s daily usage.  Nintendo’s previous social media application, Miitomo, hit 10 million worldwide users but has since dropped off, whereas Pokémon Go’s user base continues to climb, and has even sent Nintendo’s shares soaring, according to the Wall Street Journal, and has added $9 Billion in market value to the company!

It appears that “leaving luck to heaven” has really paid off this time.  We will have to wait and see if Pokémon Go continues to overtake our lives, or if it’s just a fad that will fade in the weeks to come.
