Trophy Whores 356 – The Tricky Thing About Collector’s Editions

Sony has sold over 500 million consoles since the PS1 and are celebrating with a special edition PS4 Pro. Tricky, Steve and Yield sit down this week to talk ridiculous collector’s edition pricing, pre-orders vs reservations, and yes they talk about plagiarism. So sit back and hang with the whores.

We are happy and proud to share that Proven Gamer has partnered with the Humble Bundle! Trophy Whores 315 – Dynamic Duo Returns!

This week you have the pleasure of listening to the sweet sultry tones of Tricky Mic and Steve as they take you through two weeks worth of news. We discuss…you know…trophies, and probably the dumbest email we’ve ever received (winky emoticon). Sit back, relax, and let the two gents double penetrate your ears with Playstation glory.

In a bit of big news, iHeartRadio streams episodes of Trophy Whores, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. Trophy Whores 288 – Army Of T-Rex’s

That is a mouthful.  That’s what Tricky said.  I couldn’t resist.  Tricky loves Wendy’s chicken parmesan sandwiches.  Truly, to Tricky, it might as well be filet mignon.  Have you seen a man stick an entire sandwich in his mouth?  It isn’t for the faint of heart.  We can’t unhinge our jaws like snakes.  I’m surprised that there isn’t a snake villain creeping around Gotham City.

This week, the inmates run the asylum.  Technically, Alex runs the asylum, since Tricky has to drive around New York City in a snow plow.  Unfortunately, for him, we spend a large portion of the show talking about all things Dark Knight.  Yes, the one and only Batman.  Otherwise known as the only DC Comics superhero worth a damn.  I need to stop there before Metropolis’ legion of fanboys descends upon Trophy Whores studios like a hurricane of wasps.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Extra Life,  The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Gotham, Batman Arkham, and Batman: The Telltale Series.

Trophy Whores 276 – Frosty Reception

This week we talk about the Caped Crusader, Batman, and sporty rocket cars — neither of which tastes nearly as good as soup or mozzarella sticks.

News is scarce, but we shore up the agenda with two — TWO — thought-provoking questions of the week.  What’s more, Frosty, a man with a beard as tremendous as his podcasting skills, joins the show to complete a fearsome foursome.  As always, we’ve got all of the bad segues and slow transitions that you ever need.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Batman VR, Rocksteady Studios and Rocket League.  Psyonix’s Rocket League is a game that we can always come back to.  Psyonix has done a tremendous supporting the community with  engaging downloadable content far after the game’s release.  It’s hard to believe that Rocket League has surpassed one year on the market.  While others are focused on the newest Rocket League DLC, Tricky is looking forward and asking if Psyonix needs to start on a sequel.

Trophy Whores 251 – The Whores Own The Loot

The Trophy Whores won the war.  The Remember the Loot crew played hard and battled valiantly, but in the end, the Whores emerged victorious — in a clean sweep!  What the Whores lost in sleep, they gained in trophies and levels.

This week, beyond the usual news and shenanigans, the fellas recap the Great Trophy War.  You will get the inside scoop, including the Trophy Whores’ strategies and experiences.  The Great Trophy War took a lot out of both teams, and it seems that most participants agreed that the competition was a bit more than they bargained for.  If you’ve ever tried to beat Vanquish and attain the platinum, or you’ve tried to put down a 20 lb. roast beef sandwich, then you understand the feeling.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Sound Shapes, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Minecraft: Story Mode, Beyond Good and Evil, and Tales From the Borderlands.  Yield and Alex agree that Tales from the Borderlands tops the list of Telltale Games’ games.  The Walking Dead won Game of the Year; however, for Alex, The Walking Dead, though a great game, is depressing and horribly sad.   Alex prefers his Disney happy endings, so even though he respects the quality of narrative in The Walking Dead, he prefers a game with more humor and lighthearted appeal.

Trophy Whores 250 – The Triumph of 250

The Trophy Whores have made it!  After 250 — official — episodes, and being cemented as borderline Internet celebrities, the Trophy Whores are still going strong, fueled by the adoration and support of their awesome listeners and fellow trophy hunters.  The guys can’t thank you enough for listening, as your support means the world to them.  In truth, Trophy Whores would not have made it this far without you.  Thank you!  The guys are already thinking about what to do for episode 500!

The Trophy Whores don’t talk about Microsoft often, but talk of cross-network play between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 has the Four Whoresmen intrigued.  Donny is skeptical; however, Tricky, Iyield2no1, and Alex see the benefits of cross-network play between the rival platform holders.  Can you imagine Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex working together?  As you might imagine, the maniacal and hapless genius represents Sony’s rival.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Batman, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan.  Alex is looking forward to Mutants in Manhattan, as it reminds him of Turtles in Time, his favorite — absolute favorite — Ninja Turtles game.  If you were a kid and/or arcadegoer in the 1990s, then you probably spent pockets — and pockets — full of coins on the Turtles in Time arcade machine.

Trophy Whores 249 – Wartime Trophy Farming

Embroiled in an intense battle, the Trophy Whores know it’s time to get serious.  The Poot crew, otherwise known as Remember the Loot, have jumped out to an early lead, and, as expected, they are running their mouths like chihuahuas.  According to the pop culture medical dictionary, they suffer from — a bad case of — diarrhea of mouth.  And much like foxes in a hen house, Remember the Loot are going nuts for the Telltale Games.

The fellas keep it short this week, but they — to borrow a line from Iyield2no1 — still bring the awesome.  Much like the high-flying, goal-scoring MVP of any Proven Gamer Rocket League game, the Trophy Whores are going to rocket-boost to victory.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Game of Thrones, Rock Band 4, Rocket League, The Walking Dead, and Virtual Reality.  The Trophy Whores aren’t sold on virtual reality.  You won’t see Donny or Alex waiting in a line at midnight to pick up Sony’s $400 VR package.  In truth, they’re more likely to be at McDonald’s at midnight, dumpster-diving for days-old, moldy chicken McNuggets.  Donny, Alex, Yield, and Tricky — have higher standards.

Trophy Whores 248 – Trophy War Tally

The Great Trophy War  rages on!  The Trophy Whores and the Remember the Loot crew are locked in a bitter and eternal struggle — that will end on April 1.  It’s getting serious. Yield is crushing the Platinum count, and, Tricky, for fuel and luck, has an entire case of Thin Mints at his disposal.  I hope that he puts them in the freezer.

Despite the intense PlayStation Network battle for trophies and pride, the video game news industry keeps ticking.  The Trophy Whores take a break from their smack-talking ways to discuss the latest hoopla from around the Internet (and beyond!).

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Disney Infinity 3.0, Call of Duty, and No Man’s Sky.  Tricky has promised to get Alex to return to Twitter, but much like a stubborn ostrich with its head buried in the ground, Alex has refused to acquiesce.  If you are a fan of social media, then you will likely be enthralled by the discussion; however, if you don’t use social media, then you will likely be as horrified as when any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan watches Turtles III, in which our favorite shell-backed heroes run with samurais in feudal Japan.  It was a terrible idea.

Trophy Whores 247 – Smack Talk City

As the Great Trophy War approaches, The Trophy Whores welcome the Remember the Loot crew to the show.  It’s a raucous episode.  Both sides fire off some serious smack talk, which you might expect from these two rowdy, rowdy teams.  If this were professional wrestling, and there will be plenty of wrasslin’ references and impersonations, then Proven Gamer would be promoting a five-on-five steel cage shouting match — with trophies and pride on the line!

This week, as every week, neither team gives an inch. The Trophy Whores have earned more trophies, as well as more Platinums, but the Loot — a.k.a. Poot — crew is not afraid.  In fact, they talk a big game.  Of course, you have to wonder if they bark harder than they bite.  Small dogs bark a lot, but they can never keep up with the big dogs.

Join the Trophy Whores and the Poot crew as they discuss Resident Evil, Hitman, PlayStation Vita TV, and war — the Great Trophy War.  Despite Darrell’s impersonations of famous wrestlers, the Trophy Whores are not phased.  If that is the best that he has in his arsenal, then he is better fit for YouTube than he is for a battle.  Nevertheless, Remember the Poot threw down the gauntlet, and the Trophy Whores accepted.

Trophy Whores 246 – Remember The Poot

Tricky wants to play Rise of the Tomb Raider, but doesn’t want to play it on PC.  He’s a PlayStation fanboy through and through, and he wants to play it on the PlayStation 4.  It’s a terrible inner struggle.  Tricky might as well be choosing between salami and pepperoni.

As the Great Trophy War approaches, the smack-talk elevates, and Yield is chucking some daggers.  The Four Whoresmen are coming with guns blazing!  Tricky says guns blaring.  If Donny doesn’t make up words and adages, then Tricky can play anti-wordsmith.

Join our squad of champion trophy collectors as we discuss, among other things, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dead Nation, Firewatch, and LEGO Marvel Superheroes.  If Donny can muster the skill to attain the Platinum in Dead Nation, then the Trophy Whores will no doubt lock up “rarest Platinum.”  Alex knows that Dead Nation can be grimly difficult, so he wonders if Donny knows the frustrating path that lies ahead.

Trophy Whores 245 – Mercs With Platinums

While you were at the movies watching Deadpool, Tricky was braiding Barbie’s hair — as all good fathers do.  With plenty of years of experience under his belt, Tricky styles and braids doll hair like a pro.

Despite his fatherly duties, Tricky has seen Deadpool, and — obviously — he recommends that kids stay away.  If you take your kids to see Deadpool, then you are probably the same parent who will let your kids play Grand Theft Auto.  Beyond that, you most likely feed your children rusty nail sandwiches.

Join our team of Marvel foulmouthed mercenaries as we discuss Deadpool, Firewatch, Silent Hills, Assassin’s Creed and The Walking Dead.  As Alex prepares to play LEGO Marvel Superheroes, he hopes Deadpool shows up.  Granted, Deadpool would have to mind his manners.  The Merc with a Mouth isn’t kid-friendly.

Trophy Whores 244 – Super Whores Sunday

Tricky and Alex celebrated Super Bowl Sunday with each other — as well as a guest who has no rooting interest in the game.  To be fair, Tricky is a Giants fan, and Alex likes Packers, so no one has a stake in the Lombardi Trophy this year.

Some people play for trophies and accolades on the gridiron, while others play for trophies and honors on the PlayStation Network.  The Trophy Whores prefer the couch.  You don’t get hit nearly as hard when you are sitting in front of your television and have a PlayStation controller in your hand.

Even without two of the Four Whoresmen, silliness abounds.  Join our team of virtual football champions and armchair MVPs as we discuss, among other things, Apotheon, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, Doom, and World of Tanks.  We’ve got more than football on our minds this week.  Who doesn’t like pizza, wings, or Nathan Drake?  He didn’t make it to the Super Bowl halftime show, but if you keep your eyes open, you might catch Nate on the horizon.

Trophy Whores 243 – Rocksteady And Rumble-Ready

As the Great Trophy War — pitting the Trophy Whores against the Remember the Loot crew — approaches, Tricky gets increasingly mouthy and sassy.  He’s confident — very much so — that the Trophy Whores will win the battle.  While Tricky hasn’t guaranteed victory, he is definitely ready to rumble.

The Trophy Whores have plenty of topics to discuss this week, but, as usual, they move like a slug in molasses.  They hope you enjoy the banter, because you are getting a lot of it.  You’ll probably finish decorating for the Fourth of July before the fellas hit housekeeping.

Join our league of extraordinary Rocket League players as we discuss, among other things, Murdered: Soul Suspect, Song of the Deep, Rocket League and Mighty No. 9.  We also chat about the WWE Royal Rumble.  While some people relish the outcome, as well as Triple H’s new reign as WWE champion, Alex is still peeved that Bray Wyatt, leader of the scary, powerful and dominant Wyatt Family, didn’t outlast 29 other superstars to win the annual battle royal.

Trophy Whores 231 – From Paris With Games

Tricky doesn’t get Horizon Zero Dawn.  To be fair, Tricky has a skewed sense of quality.  He believes that Hannah Montana The Movie, for which he has the Platinum trophy, is a good game.  The Trophy Whores often tease him about that — because he deserves it.

Horizon, developed by Guerrilla Games, has gotten a lot of attention — especially from Alex.  If you ask Alex, he will tell you that Horizon is the best thing since tubed toothpaste. Guerrilla is doing good work; Alex wants Horizon, and he is willing to buy a PlayStation 4 to play it.

Horizon is reason enough to rejoice, but the show has a milestone to announce: Iyield2no1 has surpassed 100 episodes!  It might seem like yesterday, but Yield has surpassed the century mark as a PlayStation owner who collects trophies and podcasts about it.

Join our thankful quartet of accomplished gamers and trinket seekers, as we discuss, among other things, Horizon Zero Dawn, Teslagrad, Mad Max, Ratchet and Clank, Rock Band 4, and Street Fighter V.  We’re waiting for Street Fighter V: Super Fireball Edition, which will surely be followed by Street Fighter V: Hyper Blue Fireball Edition.

Trophy Whores 228 – Donny’s One-Man Stand Against Remakes

Donny knows Alex well, which is — partially — why he brings up Psychonauts. Truth be told, he’s a fan, too. Who isn’t? It is a fantastic, imaginative game, and, as one of Alex’s favorite games, it holds a special place in his heart.

Beyond placating Alex’s ardor for nostalgia and Double Fine Productions, Donny sounds the battle horn and calls for podcasters to band together, demanding an end to the seemingly endless stream of video game remakes. Donny might have a point, given how many remakes have landed on the PlayStation 4; however, we always have Until Dawn, right?

Join our jubilant squad of Hulkbusters and Marvel superheroes, as we discuss, among other things, Disney Infinity, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, New York Comic-Con, iHeartRadio and, of course, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Given how much Tricky and Donny talk about the game, we should all be Metal Gear Solid experts. Alex now knows more about The Phantom Pain than he knows about the menu at Qdoba Mexican Grill — and he has ordered many burrito bowls!

Trophy Whores 226 – Migraines Outta This World

While you are listening to this episode, Donny is freaking out about the dangers of virtual gaming.  According to him, virtual headsets are whack.  Donny isn’t always right, but he talks as if he is the smartest man in the world.  Given his taste in movies, which generally opposes popular opinion, you should know that Donny isn’t afraid to swim upstream.

Tricky, on the other hand, has retired from Trivia Crack — after less than 20 games!  He dons a cape of cowardice, as he refuses to accept Alex’s challenges and game invites.  Who runs from a friendly challenge?  The Cowardly Crusader rises again!

Join our powerful quartet of trivia nerds and PlayStation admirers, as we discuss, among other things, Mighty No. 9, Gravity Rush, BioShock, Resident Evil and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.  What’s more, Tricky updates us on his trek through Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.  If you crunch the numbers, you will find that Tricky has more time invested into The Phantom Pain than the builders of the Titanic put into that “unsinkable” ship.

Trophy Whores 225 – 197 Hours In 12 Days

Tricky likes Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and he likes it a lot.  As in, if Tricky could play The Phantom Pain or pick up a winning lottery ticket stuffed in a Spicy Chicken Sandwich (from Wendy’s), he would play The Phantom Pain.  What is wrong with him? Doesn’t he know that Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich is delicious?

We continue our “Game of the Year” debate, pitting Fallout 4 against Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.  I guess we have our frontrunners.  If Naughty Dog were releasing a new Crash Bandicoot, it would be a different story.  It would be a three-horse race, and the orange marsupial would be out in front.
