Duck Game Review

There have been many games that can accurately call themselves “Duck Shooters”. The Duck Game puts a twist on this as you are a duck who shoots other ducks. This platform/shooter is definitely not an everyday kind of game.
Normally I would try to summarize the story of a game I am reviewing, but to be honest, I’m not sure what the story is. There is a single player challenge missions that imply being a lone duck attacking a corporation but I wouldn’t really call that a story. The game, instead, focuses heavily on multiplayer. This actually turns out to be a good thing.
The controls for Duck Game are really simple. Basically the WASD keys to move/jump/glide, the C key to pick up/throw, V key to use, Q key to play dead, and the E key to quack. The quack button might possibly be my favorite thing in this game. You make your character quack to taunt or communicate. Wearing different hats also changes the quack. I know this sounds silly, but it makes the game much more enjoyable.
The multiplayer is also quite simple. 2-4 players are spawned in random platform levels with various weapons across the board. The players have to scramble for weapons (guns, bombs, melee weapons, etc.) and kill each other with them. The first one to win ten rounds wins the game. It is pretty fast paced and becomes really competitive. Small things like dragging/throwing dead ducks and/or stealing their hats makes you that much more into the game.
There were some minor glitches like getting stuck in a platform and stuff, but nothing game breaking. This is definitely not a Skyrim or Goldeneye, but it does what it is aiming for very well. It is a silly, competitive game that keeps its players entertained. That being said it doesn’t feel quite complete without some kind of reason why we ducks are murdering each other.
