Publisher 505 Games, the company behind the first-person narrative driven adventure Virginia, have announced their partnership with Koji Igarashi to publish Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night; The spiritual successor to the PlayStation One darling Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Working as a series producer for the Castlevania series from 2001-2010, Igarashi parted ways with Konami to launch a kick-starter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night in attempt to recapture the hearts of fans who have longed for a proper sequel to the beloved Castlevania series. Recent screenshots and gameplay trailers have depicted the fidelity of the Castlevania games rooted within the core mechanics. Gothic environments and horrific boss battles will aim to set the tone as you explore a dark castle in classic 2D, “Metroidvania” style fashion. Despite the game’s delay due to budget issues, the game is still slated for release in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, Wii U, and PC.
