Agents, look up. Washington, D.C. is about to spend three weeks caught between dusk and night, and The Division 2 is going full horror for it. Title Update Y8S3.2 brings the Red Moon Unleashed event, a creator collaboration, fresh bounties, a new Named rifle, and some long-requested fixes to Escalation and Conflict. Here is everything you need to know before you step back into the dark.
Red Moon Unleashed: October 15 – November 3
The Red Moon Unleashed event runs from October 15 to November 3, 2026. During the event, D.C. shifts into an eerie twilight state, with weather swinging from thick fog to heavy storms — and the dreaded Blood Storms. Just logging in while the event is live earns you a free Bound Slasher Mask, so do not sleep on that first login.
The Lunatic Modifier and the Moon Cultists
Two new twists change how every firefight feels. The Lunatic modifier makes enemies hit harder and fire faster — and they explode when they go down, so mind your spacing. Meanwhile, Moon Cultists — drawn from the Hyenas, True Sons, Outcasts, Black Tusk, and Underground — roam in groups across the city. Expect even more of them when Heavy Storms or Blood Storms roll in.
Three New Bosses, Real Rewards
Three bosses headline the event, each with its own masks and rewards:
- The Necromancer — drops an Event Key.
- The Risen Hunter — drops an Event Key.
- The Bloody Houndsman — drops a full outfit plus a Bat Drone visual effect.
Playing solo? Head to the West End and trigger Necromancer Unleashed on Heroic difficulty for a shot at the Hive visual effect plus a key.
Revenant Bounties: Six Hunts, Six Featured Exotics
The Revenant Bounties are the heart of the chase. Each of the six bounties features a different Exotic, and finishing one earns you an Event Key, a 50% chance at an arm patch, and either an Exotic Cache (80%) or the featured Exotic itself (20%). Clear all six to earn the Necromancer Arm Patch commendation.
| Bounty | Featured Exotic |
|---|---|
| Blinding The Eye | Eagle Bearer |
| Final Girl | Regulus |
| Binding Circle | Steel & Sons |
| Rubber and Glue | Vindicator |
| Scarecrow | Prima Donna |
| Dousing the Light | The Bighorn |
Event Keys, Caches, and the Lichtenberg
Event Keys are the event currency. Earn them by taking down Moon Cultists — 14 kills on Normal or Hard, 12 on Challenging, 10 on Heroic — plus boss kills and bounty completions. A Daily Boost cuts those kill requirements in half for your first 150 kills each day, resetting at 08:00 UTC. Spend keys at the event vendor at the Base of Operations on Apparel and Gear Caches, and check in on the Community Challenge while you are there.
Apparel Caches hold 43 items across five outfits plus dyes, and completing the set unlocks the Necromancer Backpack Trophy. Gear Caches pull from Prototype, Named, and Exotic pools — including the brand-new Named Classic M1A, the Lichtenberg. Its Run and Gun talent builds stacks from movement and headshots, then unleashes a charged shot with Shock. You can also smash 20 Red Moon Altars each day for Gear Cache loot.
Community Challenges
Keys feed a cross-platform community total with milestone unlocks: the Fool’s Light Jacket at 3 million keys, Pants at 10 million, and the Lantern Mask at 20 million. There is also a personal track — push toward 200 keys to unlock the Sinister Spells Backpack Trophy plus other rewards like the Scorpio and Caretaker. Heads up: unused Event Keys are removed when the event ends, and Apparel Keys convert back to Premium Credits.
Creator Collaboration: October 15 – November 3
Running alongside the event, a Creator Collaboration features PurePrime, SOLIDFPS, and Widdz. Each creator has six projects with five activities apiece in Named Zones, releasing daily. Rewards include a Named Item, Exotic Component, Recalibration, and Optimization Caches, plus a themed backpack for finishing all six of a creator’s projects. Keep an eye on loot containers too — creator cap, T-shirt, and hoodie cosmetics can drop from them.
Multiplier Events
- Shepherd XP x3: October 13–20
- Expertise Surge: October 20–27 (double upgrade materials)
- Vanguard Overdrive: October 27 – November 3 (bonuses to reload, weapon swap, hazard protection, movement, and armor)
The Georgetown Dead Zone Opens
The Classified Assignment The Georgetown Dead Zone (Red Horizon #2) opens on October 15, giving Year 8 Season 3 pass holders another mission to dig into.
Escalation and Conflict Fixes
Two quality-of-life changes are worth celebrating. In Escalation, starting a run no longer consumes Tokens — you just need to hold the minimum balance (1 for Tier 1, 5 for Tier 5, 10 for Tier 10). Your Tokens stay put if you fail or disconnect, and completion rewards have been equalized for hosts and teammates, scaling from 1 Token at Tier 0 up to 30 at Tier 10. Vendor prices are unchanged.
In Conflict, a new Conflict Commendation Currency (CCC) can be spent at the Prometheus Terminal on High-End gear, Exotics, and Prototypes. The rank cap climbs from 100 to 200, you earn 45 CCC per rank-up, and every five ranks grants a Milestone Cache with a type determined by rank.
So, Agents — which bounty or Exotic are you chasing first? Let us know in the comments.
