The most dangerous game on Nintendo Switch is getting a sequel. Idea Factory and Compile Heart, with developer Sting, have announced Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2, a brand-new entry in the friendship-destroying board game RPG series, and it is launching for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam in Summer 2027 — simultaneously worldwide, in a first for the series.
If you have never played Dokapon, the pitch is simple and evil. Up to four players travel across a board game-style map by flicking a spinner, landing on spaces that can lead to villages, shops, monster battles, or strange encounters with special NPCs. You defeat monsters, save towns, and earn money — but money alone is not the game. Attack your rivals, steal their cash and items, and do whatever it takes to knock them out of the race, because when the dust settles, the wealthiest player takes the crown. It is Mario Party by way of a JRPG, except the grudges are real and they last for years.
Connect 2 is a direct sequel to Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, the 2023 remake that brought the cult classic back, and this time the developers are adding genuinely new ways to betray your friends. Headlining the new features is Character Creation: for the first time you build your own hero, choosing from a wide variety of hairstyles and adjusting eyes and mouth — including, the announcement happily notes, hilariously strange faces — and you can save your favourite designs to use again later.
Then there are the Co-Op Battles. In another series first, all players can join forces to take on Giga Monsters, enormous enemies that no single hero is meant to handle alone. Beat one and the whole party claims a huge pile of rewards — and then comes the real Dokapon question: does everyone share the spoils fairly, or does somebody try to take everything for themselves? The game is outright daring your group chat to fall apart.

The core battle system keeps its trademark mind games. When two players land on the same space, it is a head-to-head fight where each side picks a single command — Attack, Defend, Strike, and Magic all have their own strengths and weaknesses — so every duel becomes a guessing game about what your opponent is about to do. Guess right and you land a clean hit; guess wrong and you are the one eating dirt. Losing costs more than pride, too: win a battle against another player and you can steal their items and money, then humiliate them further with the winner’s privilege of pranks — forcing a ridiculous hairstyle on them or changing their character’s name.

Progression runs through more than 10 job classes. You start with old favourites like Warrior, Magician, and Thief, master them, and by meeting certain conditions during a playthrough you can qualify for new jobs that can turn the tables — or, as the announcement puts it, maybe even grant you power from the gods. There is also an all-new mode where every player begins the game at a high level with powerful equipment, skipping the slow early build-up and dropping everyone straight into the high-stakes part of the board.
However you play, you are not short of options: Connect 2 supports 1 to 4 players, with solo play, local multiplayer for up to four on one system, and online play for 2 to 4 players. Voiceover comes in English and Japanese, with text in English, Japanese, Thai, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Ratings are still pending everywhere, and Idea Factory says details on the physical and digital releases will come at a later date — no price has been announced yet. The game’s Steam page is already live for wishlisting.
The sequel is getting an unusually early public debut, too. To celebrate the series’ first simultaneous worldwide launch, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 is appearing at Thailand Game Show 2026, running today, Thursday October 29, through Sunday November 1, at the Japan Pavilion — attendees can watch the announcement trailer, play the original Dokapon Kingdom: Connect, and pick up a giveaway pin badge while supplies last.
Dokapon joins a Switch 2 calendar that is already filling up fast for multiplayer fans — between You’ve Got Mail — TANUKI: Pon’s Summer Delivers November 10, and It’s Coming to PS5 and Game Pass and Cozy Grove’s Creators Are Launching a Cozy MMO — Spirit Crossing Lands November 16, plus long-awaited arrivals like After Nearly a Decade, Witchbrook Finally Has a Release Date — and It’s Coming to PS5 Too, Nintendo’s new machine is not short of ways to play together into 2027. The only question is whether your friendships survive until Summer 2027 — and what state they will be in after it.
