Planet Crafter Magnetaris is official, and Miju Games is giving its multi-million-selling terraforming hit an entirely new world to conquer. Magnetaris is a premium DLC launching Monday, December 8 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at just $9.99.
The pitch is immediately tempting for co-op crews. Buy Magnetaris once on Steam and you unlock the DLC content for up to ten friends joining your session, as long as one player in the group owns it. For a game built around shared terraforming projects, that is an unusually generous model.
Planet Crafter Magnetaris Is a World of Storms
Magnetaris itself is unlike anything in the base game. The new planet is wracked by violent electrical storms powered by an unusually strong magnetic field, and players will traverse it to uncover dormant technologies left behind by whoever came before. Expect new sources of energy and entirely new ways to generate power.
The DLC adds new biomes and new anomalies with their own mechanics, alongside new lore, technologies, building options and quality-of-life improvements. Miju Games is also promising the small touches the series is known for, including new collectibles for your bases, hidden throughout the world for explorers to hunt down.
One Purchase Unlocks Magnetaris for Ten Friends
The sharing model deserves a second look, because it solves the oldest problem in co-op DLC: half the group owning the content and half locked out of it. Here, a single Steam purchase covers the host and up to ten friends, removing the awkward maths entirely. It turns a $9.99 expansion into a group night purchase.
Magnetaris also builds on a busy year for the game. The free Skeo update landed back on September 1, adding a brand-new moon that players can travel to and terraform. Between that free content and a premium planet of storms, The Planet Crafter’s universe keeps expanding in every direction at once.
If you are new to the game, the base experience is a first-person open-world terraforming adventure for one to ten players, tasking you with turning a hostile planet into a paradise by raising oxygen, heat and pressure. Magnetaris assumes you know the ropes, and aims its violent storms squarely at veterans. December 8 cannot come soon enough.
