Wartales Is Going Full Chivalry: Knights of Fardensa Expansion Gallops In December 9 With Lances and Legendary Horses

Wartales Knights of Fardensa is official, and Shiro Games is taking its million-selling tactical RPG into the age of chivalry. The new premium expansion launches Wednesday, December 9 for PC via Steam and GOG, priced at $19.99, with a 10 percent launch discount running for the first two weeks.

Fardensa is a brand-new region built around a single question: what happens when two branches of a great noble family can no longer share the duchy? The Ald Hertogg family is tearing itself apart, and your mercenary company rides straight into the middle of a conflict steeped in honour, rivalry and betrayal.

Wartales Knights of Fardensa Tells a Two-Act Story

The expansion is structured as a two-act campaign. It opens with a relative’s wedding in the Hertogg household, planned as a grand showcase of the ways of chivalry. Guests soon take sides, alliances curdle into open conflict, and the celebration gives way to the duchy’s deepest fracture. It is a slower, more narrative burn than Wartales usually attempts.

Your path through Fardensa runs through the knighthood trial system. Local lords and the Order itself will judge your conduct, and the moral choices you make decide whether your company earns true recognition. Honour is not just a theme here, it is the scoreboard that the region’s great houses watch constantly.

Lances, New Armour and Legendary Horses

Knights bring new toys. The lance arrives as a weapon class built for slow, devastating charges, alongside new armour pieces including the shining plate worn by Fardensa’s finest. Enemy knights guard strong fortresses across a countryside of rolling green hills and prosperous farmland that looks nothing like Wartales’ usual grim frontier.

The headline steed feature is legendary horses. These unique animals roam the wilds of Fardensa, and taming one grants your company a permanent, powerful advantage in battle. If you have ever wanted your mercenary band remembered for its cavalry, this is the expansion that finally lets you build it properly.

A Free Update Adds Horse Breeding for Everyone

You do not need the expansion for every new feature. A free update launching alongside it gives all players the Horseman Mastery Class, a new progression path built for mounted units. Horse breeding also arrives for everyone: station horses at Trading Posts to produce animals that inherit traits from their parents. Shiro Games calls it the foundation of a long-term cavalry strategy.

Wartales first launched in April 2023 and has sold over one million units across PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, carving out a loyal audience for its harsh, open-world mercenary simulation. Knights of Fardensa lands December 9, just before the holidays. Start saving your crowns and polishing your lances now.
