Trophy Whores 304 – A Far Cry From Kingdom Hearts 3

This week Alex hosts, which means that you can expect brilliant segues and at least one BioShock reference.  With Mark and Stephen helping to navigate the latest video game news, we’ve got you covered on all the facts and stories that you need to know.  For instance, did you know that Sony Computer Entertainment needs to green-light a Heavenly Sword sequel?  Fact.

Early 2018 won’t lack heavy hitters.  Before the end of spring, Ubisoft will release Far Cry 5, and 2K Games will ship Red Dead Redemption 2.  While both games have evoked palpable excitement, Red Dead Redemption 2, a long-awaited sequel from Rockstar Games, has no doubt created a larger stir.  Red Dead Redemption 2 has been delayed; however, as always, 2K Games releases games when they are fit to sell.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Marvel Heroes Omega, Marvel’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

In a bit of big news, iHeartRadio streams episodes of Trophy Whores, which greatly expands the show’s footprint and reach. Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake “Still Have a Way To Go”

Fans waiting for the release of Square Enix’s next highly anticipated titles, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy 7 Remake may have to buckle in for the long road ahead. Although he hopes to show new information on both games this year, director Tetsuya Nomura has said both games “still have a way to go” before they are released. In an interview with Famitsu, he gave an update on the development of both titles.

Gameplay for Kingdom Hearts III  was most recently seen at E3 2015. Since then we haven’t seen or heard much. In the interview, Nomura gave some new information on the development status of the game. “While I can’t make a sweeping statement because the development process is different from what we’ve done so far, there are still worlds untouched. Production is progressing on unannounced worlds, in a state that we cannot show them off. In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake was last seen at PSX 2015 when the first gameplay was revealed. When asked for any updates on the game, Nomura said “We’re steadily progressing on production. While we are making them, I apologize that the wait will be be a bit longer for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake. I am very sorry, but to that degree I will make a game that will meet your expectations.”

Although the messaging about these two titles does make them see a way off, Nomura did say that he hopes to show off more of these games sometime this year. “Last year, I didn’t put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere. The release of the titles themselves

“Last year, I didn’t put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere. The release of the titles themselves still have a way to go. But there are many titles releasing this year, if you can wait for any ‘surprises.’”

Trophy Whores 290 – Great Shuhei in the Sky

Tragedy has hit the Proven Gamer PlayStation family.  We aren’t seven days into 2017, and Mark has lost his (second) PlayStation 4.  On the bright side, it seems that Mark was able to save his Final Fantasy XV progress, and he has an excuse to buy a PlayStation 4 Pro, which will pair nicely with his 4K television. All is not lost.  Mark, sadly, has become accustomed to, as well all have, video game consoles dying.  He will persevere.

This week, the Trophy Whores — all five of them — discuss a plethora of PS4 games set to release in 2017.  The list of games is topped by heavy hitters like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Kingdom Hearts 3, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Gran Turismo Sport; however, even if you aren’t looking forward to the aforementioned, there is still plenty reason to be excited about the year in PlayStation.  Per usual, there will be no shortage of games to play on your PlayStation console.

Join the Trophy Whores as they discuss, among other things, Ace Combat 7, Days Gone, Friday the 13th: The Game, Mass Effect: Andromeda, New Hot Shots Golf, and Persona 5.  Regardless of your preferences and tastes, the new year brings a tidal wave of AAA games and a list of release dates that should make you wet your pants in anticipation.  Get ready, because 2017 is going to be a banner year.

Trophy Whores 252 – Homer in the House

Finally, Homer has returned to Trophy Whores!  Thanks, Rock; I will take it from here.

Yes, the mighty Homergetsduffed joins the Trophy Whores for some non-animated, non-alcoholic shenanigans.  The Trophy Whores don’t need beer to have a good time!  Rather, they’ll completely nerd out and discuss cartoons.  Narf!!!

Telltale Games is back in the news, as they have their hands in a video game adaptation of 7 Days to Die.  For some, 7 Days to Die will elicit memories of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, another post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested game; however, it seems that 7 Days to Die is more ambitious than The Walking Dead — a former Game of the Year winner.  Narf!!!  Despite the omnipresence of zombies in pop culture, it seems that society is still enamored with murderous undead masses.  Alex has had enough of zombies, but given the popularity of AMC’s The Walking Dead, the American television audience can’t get enough gory zombie goodness.

Join the Trophy Whores (and Homer) as they discuss, among other things, Rocket League, 7 Days to Die, God of War 4,  and Kingdom Hearts 3.  Apparently, Kingdom Hearts 3 will include Marvel and Star Wars characters, which Donny, our resident Kingdom Hearts superfan, doesn’t like.  Narf!!! D-Town is a purist, so when game creators mash together intellectual properties, beyond the original concept, as KFC mashes together disparate ingredients in a Styrofoam bowl, Donny runs to his microphone to incite the masses of disgruntled nerds.  While Donny doesn’t always have the gift of gab, he always has the gift of babble.

We appreciate your support (and your ears)!  Narf!!!

Trophy Whores 223 – Satyrs Attack In The Dying Light

This week we throw around opinions like we’re Sony tossing wads of cash at Naughty Dog.  In other words, it’s a normal week at Proven Gamer Studios.

Donny doesn’t like Goat Simulator, and, as per usual, he doesn’t hide his contempt. He’s even less likely to play I Am Bread, regardless of its undeniable charm.  Luckily, for him, we spend more time discussing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and God of War: Ascension.  Given that we have two Gear-heads on the show, I hope that you are prepared to hear all about The Phantom Pain.  Episode 223 is the precursor to the storm.  You have been warned.

Join our unruly gaggle of Metal-heads and mythology buffs, as we discuss, among other things, Dying Light, Until Dawn, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Grow Home.

You might excel at horror games, but as always remember that the freaks come out at night.
