Pull the Trigger on PlayStation — Buckshot Roulette Is Finally Coming to PS5, PS4, and Switch

Load the chamber, press your luck, and double down — Buckshot Roulette is finally coming to PlayStation and Nintendo. Publisher CRITICAL REFLEX and solo developer Mike Klubnika have announced that the viral horror hit is headed to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, completing the game’s conquest of every major console platform. No release date was given yet, but after years of PlayStation and Switch players watching from the sidelines, the wait is officially almost over.

If you have somehow avoided this one, the pitch is brutally simple: it is Russian roulette, except the revolver has been replaced with a 12-gauge shotgun. You sit across a grimy table from a towering figure known only as The Dealer, deep inside an underground nightclub, and take turns pointing the shotgun at each other — or at yourselves. Each round loads a randomized mix of live shells and blanks, and your job is to track the odds, read the table, and use a growing arsenal of items — magnifying glasses, cigarettes, handcuffs, burner phones, adrenaline shots — to tilt the math in your favor before you pull the trigger.

What sounds like a grim novelty is secretly one of the smartest tension engines in modern gaming. Every round is a poker game played with your life: do you shoot the Dealer and risk wasting a live shell on a blank, or shoot yourself to bank an extra turn? The items turn it into a delicious mind game — saw off the barrel to double damage, handcuff the Dealer to steal two turns in a row, or take a swig of expired medicine and gamble on the outcome. Rounds escalate, the stakes double, and the whole thing is wrapped in a grimy, VHS-soaked aesthetic with a thumping dark-ambient soundtrack that makes every click of the chamber feel enormous.

And then there is the multiplayer. The October 2024 multiplayer update turned Buckshot Roulette into a party game from hell, letting up to four players face off against each other instead of the AI Dealer — bluffing, betraying, and screaming at each other over voice chat. It is comfortably one of the best “one more round” multiplayer experiences on PC, and the console versions cannot arrive soon enough.

The numbers behind this announcement are staggering for a game that started as a tiny itch.io experiment in December 2023. Buckshot Roulette hit Steam in April 2024 for less than the price of a coffee — it still costs just $2.99 — and proceeded to detonate: an 85 on Metacritic, nominations at The Indie Game Awards and The Horror Game Awards, and according to the announcement, more than four million copies sold. A celebratory Steam post from Klubnika this week puts the total player count at over 10 million once Game Pass and other platforms are counted. For a game made essentially by one person, that is absurd — and it explains why every platform holder wants a piece of it.

The road here took a while. The game launched on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in July 2026, where it joined Xbox Game Pass, but the PlayStation and Switch ports were confirmed to be “still in the works” while the team wrestled with technical hurdles. This announcement is the payoff: the ports are real, they are coming, and the only remaining question is when. Given the pattern of CRITICAL REFLEX’s other announcements this week — Mouthwashing got a firm October 29 date — do not be surprised if a date follows soon.

For trophy hunters, here is the exciting part: the Steam version’s achievement list is substantial, and PlayStation versions of CRITICAL REFLEX games have historically shipped with full trophy support. A platinum for surviving The Dealer? Sign us up. We will update this story the moment a release date — and a trophy list — drops.
