Blizzard Scraps Titan

Blizzard Entertainment, the famed creators of World of Warcraft and the Diablo series, have discarded their recent project code named “Titan”. Titan was to be a new MMO, but not many details were known about it nor was it ever officially announced. It is known that Blizzard had been working on this game for around seven years.

Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, has stated when it comes to new MMO’s, “… That’s not where we want to be spending our time.” Morhaime also stated that some of the reasons that they decided to scrap the project was the fact that the team had a hard time having fun working on the project or finding the passion for it. That, among other reasons, led them to decide that this game was not the game that they wanted to be making.

Android Tv and Razer

At Google’s I/O conference, they announced a new console or what I like to call a top box. Android TV is a “console” that allows one to stream videos and music from third party apps such as Netflix and Huluplus. It also allows for someone to take their phone or tablet, preferances are there, and be able to play the games on your television using the “console” like a connector port for the television. This is Android’s attempt to compete with Amazon Fire TV. It uses Android L, a future update for Android that will be built into various items such as SONY products.

As for the new console that Razer is coming out with, well there isn’t much info. More like I should say there is none. All we know on the subject is that it is like Android TV where one can stream music and videos, however, is much more focused on the heavy gamer. The console can technically be called a micro-console as it is designed so that people who can’t keep up with the current generation of consoles, to be able to play games. Now, while XBOX and the PS4 are duking it out, this system will creep up as a cheaper way to play games. As previously stated there really isn’t any info that I can really base too much on. So for anyone looking for the cold hard facts, well you might have to wait. This is a big leap from a company that focuses on PC’s, Tablets and accessories.

E3 2014: Troy Baker to voice Far Cry 4’s Villain

Yesterday, the first five minutes of Far Cry 4 was shown at E3.  During the video, players were introduced to the main villain, who was the cause of controversy a couple of weeks ago.  It is now known that Troy Baker will voice the light-skinned, blond haired man that unmercifully killed his own comrade.

Add this to his already impressive resume and Baker may just be the finest voice/motion capture actor in gaming history.

Don’t miss a minute of Proven Gamer’s E3 2014 coverage.

BloodBorne

It looks like Project beast is out of the bag and this is a new IP from From Software called Bloodborne. Not much is said about this little game. It most certainly has a Demon’s Souls look to it but with it not being an actual Souls game I can’t wait to see what From Software can do with another dark and gritty game. The game is slated to come out in 2015. stay tuned for more details!

Star Wars Battlefront

Dice’s hotly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront received a teaser trailer today.  However, it only managed to tease that the game will recreate scenes from the original trilogy.

Niklas Fegreaus, the design director for Battlefront, explained that the team at Dice has been studying props from the original films and visiting some key locations where the films were shot.  From the early in-game footage that was shown, the frozen tundra Hoth and the forest moon of Endor, seems to stay true to the original source.

There are still a lot of questions left unanswered, for which Fegreaus claims, we’ll “see more Spring 2015.”

E3 2014: Far Cry 4 Footage

If you thought that Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3 was intense, Ubisoft plans to uproot him as the craziest enemy in the franchise.

In a video that was surely built to grab attention, Ubisoft’s first unveiling of the night proved that the publisher wasn’t content to rest on its laurels.  Far Cry 4’s villain, the guy in the pink suit and stylish haircut, not only seems to be extremely cold towards his enemies, he is just as brutal to his own cronies.  Stabbing one of his minions in the throat after humiliating him, he continues to walk up to the player character, fresh blood on his face, and takes a smartphone selfie.  If anyone questioned his villainy, I think you have your answer.

Hopefully the rest of Far Cry 4 improves on one of 2012’s greatest games.

E3 2014: Assassin’s Creed: Unity Gameplay

During Ubisoft’s stellar E3 press conference, it was announced that Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released on October 28, 2014.

The gameplay, if nothing else, seems to improve upon the NPC count and character animations.  The protagonist, atop of a gargoyle and scaling down the side of a building, seemingly moves at a faster rate than that of previous titles released last gen (including AC4: Black Flag).

Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The Witcher goes to Washington

The President, a self-professed gaming novice, probably doesn’t have a lot of time to spend behind a keyboard and mouse defeating the likes of bandits, witches and demons, yet during a trip to Poland, President Obama met up with the Prime Minister to discuss something rather important: The Witcher.

“The last time I was here, Donald [Tusk, Poland’s Prime Minister] gave me a gift, the video game developed here in Poland that’s won fans the world over, The Witcher,” Obama said. “I confess, I’m not very good at video games, but I’ve been told that it is a great example of Poland’s place in the new global economy. And it’s a tribute to the talents and work ethic of the Polish people as well as the wise stewardship of Polish leaders like Prime Minister Tusk.”

The Witcher originally came out in 2007 to awesome reviews and fanfare. The sequel, Assassin’s of Kings was released in 2011 and was loved by fans for its highly addicting combat system. At the rate that the President enjoys his video games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is scheduled for a February 2015 release window, will be upon us and President Obama will have quite the backlog.

Stay tuned for more Witcher news as E3 lurks around the corner.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown coming to iOS this Summer

2K Games announced at its PAX panel today that the “full XCOM experience” will be coming to iPhone and iPad this summer. 2K also put up a video on YouTube showing off the gameplay and how it works on iOS. 2K also states that they have optimized the touch controls for the game, and haven’t resort to just using virtual buttons. Though, the game looks like it must have made some graphical compromises and cutbacks in order to fit the 20 GB game on an iOS device. No price point was announced, but we do know that XCOM: Enemy Unknown will release on iOS devices this summer.
