Shenmue 3 has become Kickstarter’s highest-funded video game project. Finishing at $6,333,295 pledged to the crowd-funding campaign. Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained, the previous record holder, finished with $5.54 million. Today’s bump in funding comes after a final push from Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki, who originally asked fans to stump up $2 million to make the game. Shenmue 3 was announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference to wild applause and actual tears from those in the audience, but after years of waiting, can the game possibly live up to fan expectation?

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain launches worldwide on 1st September 2015, it’s been revealed.
Publisher Konami had planned an official announcement tomorrow (there’s even a countdown on the Metal Gear Solid website pointing to 2pm UK time on 4th March). But a NeoGAF user found a couple of video interviews with creator Hideo Kojima on website IGN’s server, and they reveal the release date. (They’ve now been pulled.) In the video Kojima stresses Metal Gear Solid 5 will be his final Metal Gear Solid. But he always says that, doesn’t he?
“I always say this will be my last Metal Gear, but the games in the series that I’ve personally produced – Metal Gear on MSX, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, 3, 4 and Peace Walker – and now Metal Gear Solid 5 constitute a single Metal Gear saga,” Kojima says.
“With Metal Gear Solid 5 I’m finally closing the loop on that saga. In that sense, this will be the final Metal Gear Solid. To me, this is the last Metal Gear.”

Capcom has announced a weekly release schedule for Resident Evil: Revelations 2, which will launch first in four individual episodes over the course of one month. Each episode will cost $5.99 or you can buy a Season Pass covering the lot for $24.99. A full, disc-based version will then launch after that, priced at $39.99. Both the digital Season Pass and disc-based options will also include access to other bonus content, Capcom has teased. Each option will be available across all of the game’s platforms – PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One – from sometime in “early 2015″. The game begins with returning heroine Claire Redfield welcoming newbie Moira Burton (daughter of Resident Evil 1 veteran Barry) into the anti-bioterror organization Terra Save. “But in true RE fashion it’s not long before trouble finds our heroes,” Capcom writes. “The party is crashed, Claire and Moira are knocked unconscious and taken to a mysterious detention center located on an island. “They soon encounter demented, writhing enemies called Afflicted roaming the halls of this abandoned facility, and have to team up to survive. The real question is, who brought them here? And… why?”

Owners of the 12GB PS3 system will need to upgrade their storage space to keep access to Grand Theft Auto Online. Install sizes have been growing steadily since its launch last year, to the point where the latest update “Flight School” will be the last update for the owners of the 12GB PS3. “ As the world of Grand Theft Auto Online continues to expand and evolve through ongoing updates, storage limitations of the PlayStation 3 12GB hardware will require owners to purchase additional storage to accommodate GTAV Title Updates after 1.16 (released on 8/19/14),” a statement on Rockstar’s website explains. “All updates and content must remain installed on the system in order to maintain compatibility for all players within GTA Online.” Rockstar is expected to continue adding to GTA Online for the foreseeable future – especially as the game’s PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions are soon to launch. A major single-player expansion – possibly a new zombie-themed mode – is also expected before the end of the year.

PlayStation 4 system update 1.70 will be available to download in Europe from 30th April, Sony has announced via Twitter. A tweet from the company announced that the update, which includes both the SHAREfactory and option to switch HDCP off, will be launching at the end of the month. Presumably North America will be getting it around the same time.
In case you missed it, SHAREfactory is a “new rich video editor app for PS4 that makes it easy for you to customize your gameplay videos.” These videos can then be uploaded to Facebook directly, or put on a device connected via USB.
The update will also see you able to pre-load games you’ve purchased ahead of release, meaning when the clock ticks over to launch day you’ll be able to play them instantly. Finally, the option to switch HDCP off means you can capture directly from HDMI out, which should make things significantly easier for anyone wanting to create longer clips of gameplay or walkthroughs.

Konami has announced an exclusive pre-order DLC for its soon to be released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, and released assets showing several key gameplay additions in action.
Releasing on March 18th, Konami has announced that anyone who pre-orders Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros will receive exclusive content, including Mother Base Staff for use with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s Mother Base. The Mother Base is introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes but plays a central role in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The pre-order DLC codes will be provided by printed insert within physical copies of Ground Zeroes. Digital versions will access the pre-order DLC automatically upon loading The Phantom Pain. Once the DLC content is unlocked, users will have access to exclusive Mother Base items that will give Ground Zeroes users a key advantage when they embark on The Phantom Pain.
Konami has also detailed key links between Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. Both released under Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes sets up characters and content that will be further explored within The Phantom Pain.
Although details on The Phantom Pain’s scenario are not revealed, any characters or POWs rescued within Ground Zeroes will be available within The Phantom Pain. Players will be able to use their save game from Ground Zeroes to establish a Mother Base in The Phantom Pain, actions made when rescuing hostages, POWs, and specific characters will all have important repercussions later on. More details to come!
Kojima Productions has also confirmed that all four versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will benefit from an accompanying iDROID App. Accessed by iOS, Android, and Smart Glass systems, the iDROID service acts as a second game screen and syncs with the main action. It can be used to show a map of the world and summon air support, while any cassettes found in the game can also be played via the App, and it will also show your global ranking in terms of mission success.
The iDROID provides the ability to build Mother Base. The Mother Base is an integral part of the iDROID App and works as a stand-alone game. Using iDROID, players can sync with Ground Zeroes, and work on their Mother Base while on the road or listen to music and intel contained on cassette tapes found in the main game.
